The City of Lights lit up in hues of green and white with Independence Day celebrations taking off as soon as the clock struck 12.

With people out on streets decorated with flags and fairy lights, citizens, both the elderly and children alike, could be seen expressing patriotic enthusiasm with fervour. Watch Samaa's exclusive report.

All over Pakistan the celebrations are at its peak. In FATA shops are dressed with pakistan flag and jhandiya. Saw pics on twitter along with kashne azadi rallies all over pakistan...

Over in sheikhupura there are three jashne azadi rallies. Ptis as well as JI and the tajirs. Flags everywhere and images of our founding father's as well.

Lahore is bleeding green and the people are celebrating. Mass abundance of flag cap hats and flags on cars.

No doubt after a long time I am seeing so much celebrations.

Amazing atmosphere.

One of the best 14th August in the recent years. There were a lot of festivities in Islamabad, and I guess in all other cities. But one thing is still missing. The government should conduct a huge mega event in each city of Pakistan like official fireworks show, cultural show, concerts etc.
