Actually most Westerners are very circumspect and aware about Hindu religious sensitivities and are surprised that cows are slaughtered at all in India. India holds a special place in the hearts of most animal lovers around the world for its treatment of its animals. Even Arab leaders defer eating meat in presence of vegetarian Modi.

That is because it has to be respected in front of guest!!!

Who would be so disrespectful to eat cow in from of an invited guest who doesntt eat cow?
That would amount to deliberate insult!!!

Amid talks of finding an amicable solution to the Ram Temple issue, a group of Muslim kar sevaks reached the dispute site at Ayodhya on Thursday evening to have a ‘darshan’ of Ram Lala.

The group, led by president of Shri Ram Mandir Nirman Muslim Karsevak Manch Azam Khan, also brought a truck full of bricks to donate for the construction of Ram Temple.

About four dozen Muslim kar sevaks from Basti, Gorakhpur, Maharajganj and Lucknow districts reached the entry point of the disputed site in 12 SUVs.

When they were stopped by security personnel, as the scheduled time for ‘darshan’ was over, they chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and started forcing security forces to allow them entry.

The situation was defused when senior police officials intervened and asked them not to press for entry.

The kar sevaks then assembled at the entry point of the disputed site and took the vow to construct Ram Temple. They also took out a procession in the main market of Ayodhya and met the residents of the temple town.

President of Shri Ram Mandir Nirman Muslim Karsevak Manch Azam Khan said the Muslims of the country would contribute to the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

“Muslims do not want to see Ral Lala under a tent. They want to put an end to hatred in the society and are willing to contribute in the progress of the country. It will be possible only when Muslims come forward and join hands with the Hindus for the construction of the temple,” he said.

Khan is a builder from Lucknow and is a staunch supporter of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Haji Nasarullah, a member of the group, said they were not allowed to have ‘darshan’ of Ram Lala. He said they were trying to contact the members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) so that they could sit together and set the common agenda for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Kotwal, Ayodhya, Arvind Kumar Pandey said the truck was not allowed to enter Ayodhya and was parked in Naya Ghat. He added after visiting Ayodhya, the Muslim kar sevaks returned to their respective places.

VHP spokesman Sharad Sharma said the Parishad had no association with the Shri Ram Mandir Nirman Muslim Karsevak Manch.

He said the act might have been an attempt to get media attention but if any group was coming up with a positive thought on Ayodhya issue, the VHP would welcome them.

BJP Lok Sabha member and firebrand saffron leader Sakshi Maharaj on Sunday said that Ram Temple construction dates would be declared this year.

“The dates for construction of Ram Temple will be declared in November this year... will be announced by the saints at a meeting,” Sakshi Maharaj told reporters in Unnao, his Lok Sabha constituency.

The saffron leader, who is known for his controversial remarks, said the discussion was in its “final stage”.

He said prominent saints from across the country were unanimous in their resolve to ensure that the temple construction take place at Ayodhya without further delay.

“No power on earth can stop the Ram Temple construction... the dates, once declared, will not be changed,” he said. The saffron party MP also said that besides the saints, a large number of Muslims were also in favour of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

Sakshi Maharaj had earlier said that there was no question of allowing the construction of the Babri mosque at the disputed site. “The people of the country want Ram Temple at Ayodhya, which is the birth place of Lord Rama,” he had said.

Muslim leaders here reacted sharply to Sakshi Maharaj’s remarks and said that such comments only undermined the authority of the judiciary. “The matter is pending in the Supreme Court... all sides are bound by the apex court verdict,” said a senior Muslim cleric here.

While Sakshi Maharaj, MP, said in Unnao that the date of construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya was likely to be finalised in the Dharma Sansad to be held in Udupi in November, Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt on Monday said it was Mr. Maharaj’s “personal opinion”.

The seer told The Hindu the issue of Dharma Sansad had come up for discussion when Mr. Maharaj had met him here on June 22. “It is for the committee of the Dharma Sansad to decide when the Ram temple was to be built, and not by any individual,” he said.

“Mr. Maharaj may have raised the date of construction in his discussion with me. But, I did not hear it nor understand it. I cannot recall it. Mr. Maharaj speaks Hindi very fast,” he said.

“I only told Mr. Maharaj that during my third Paryaya (1984-86), the Dharma Sansad had decided to remove the locks of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid. But, the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi himself got the locks removed,” the seer said.

On his opinion on the construction of the temple in Ayodhya, the seer said that several issues will have to be taken into consideration. “We have to see the legal ambit and the decision of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. It should be done in accordance with the Constitution,” he said.

Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swami, junior seer of Pejawar Mutt, said on Saturday that the issues of banning cow slaughter, conversion, and construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya should be solved.

He was speaking at a function held here to mark the inauguration of the reception office for the Dharma Sansad being organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad here from November 24 to 26.

The seer said that the solution of these three important issues would lead to peace in the society.

Basavaraj, zonal organising secretary of VHP, said that cow slaughter should be banned in the country. Conversion by minority communities should be stopped. The practice of untouchability should also be stopped and the Ram temple must be constructed at Ayodhya. The Dharma Sansad would discuss and take a decision on these issues. About 2,500 seers and ‘sants’ are expected to participate in the Dharma Sansad, he said.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, said that Hindu community was facing three types of challenges. One was the intellectual challenge, where some forces were tarnishing the image of Hindu “dharma peethas”. The second was a cultural challenge in the form of “love jihad”. Recently, even the Supreme Court ordered a probe in a case of love jihad. The third was a challenge from the authority, where efforts were being made to divide the Hindu community through methods such mobilisation of minorities, backward classes and Dalits, who went under the acronym ‘Ahinda’ and were creating divisions among Lingayats-Veerashaivas. But Lingayats-Veerashaivas were a part of the Hindu community, Mr. Kateel said.

Mahant Bhaskar Das, the chief litigant in the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid case and the sarpanch mahant (chief priest) of the Nirmohi Akhada in Ayodhya, died on Saturday. He was 89.

With his death, both the chief litigants in the case from the Hindu and Muslim sides have passed away. Hashim Ansari, the oldest litigant in the case, died at the age of 95 in July 2016.

Though Ansari and Bhaskar Das were rival litigants, the close and cordial friendship between them was just famous as their status of being litigants.

Bhaskar Das, who was unwell for a long time, was taken to the Harshan Heart Institute in Faizabad on Wednesday night after having severe breathing problems. He breathed his last around 3am on Saturday.

The Nirmohi Akhada priest had filed a claim for the Ramjanmboomi land’s ownership in 1959.

Apart from being the Nirmohi Akhada sarpanch, he was also the mahant of the Naka Hanuman Gadhi in the temple town in Faizabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

His body has been placed at the Naka Hanuman Gadhi for people to pay tributes and the mortal remains will be cremated on the banks of the Saryu river in Ayodhya.

According to Naka Hanuman Gadhi, Bhaskar Das was born in Ranideh village in Gorakhpur in 1929. His father was Bhagwat Pathak.

When he was around 16, Bhaskar Das joined the Naka Hanuman Gadhi temple and began performing service at the temple and his religious studies.

In 1959, Nirmohi Akhada’s mahant Raghunath Das filed a case claiming Ram Janmbhoomi. At that time, Bhaskar Das, who was in charge of rituals at Ram Chabutra on the premises, too joined the case and filed the claim.

After the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court gave a verdict in the case on September 30, 2010, Bhaskar Das filed a petition in the Suprme Court for ownership of the entire Ramjanmbhoom premises. The case is still going on, and now after Bhaskar Das’ demise, his disciple mahant Ram Das is likely to take over as the litigant.

Yogi Adityanath at Mani Ramdasji Chhavni. Express photo

On the Opposition alleging that Adityanath does not celebrate festivals with his family at home, CM said that the “entire UP and society was his family”.

A day after taking part in grand Diwali celebrations at Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday offered prayers at the makeshift Ram temple at the disputed site in town. He also met Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas chairman Nritya Gopal Das, who claimed that “time to build Ram temple is very near and the next Diwali will be celebrated at the temple with Lord Ram in it”.

This comes at a time when Adityanath maintained silence on the issue during his two-day visit to Ayodhya.

Staying the night in Ayodhya, Adityanath started his day by visiting prominent temples, including Hanuman Garhi. Speaking to mediapersons outside Hanuman Garhi, he said that “Ayodhya had introduced Diwali to the country and may the festival become a unique event across the world”.

“We sought blessings for happiness, prosperity and security for the people of the entire state and nation from Bajrangbali at Hanuman Garhi and from Lord Ram by visiting Ramlala,” he said before going to the makeshift temple. It was his second visit to the makeshift temple after he was sworn in as the CM in May.

On the Opposition alleging that Adityanath does not celebrate festivals with his family at home, CM said that the “entire UP and society was his family”.

“…Opposition lacks issues, as they are unemployed… They make negative remarks on every good work. Those who never thought about anything good, who had never done anything good, who lack positive and creative thinking … how can it be expected that they would speak good about any good work?” he asked.

After offering prayers at temples, Adityanath visited Mani Ramdasji Chhavni, where Nritya Gopal Das and hundreds of sadhus stay.

Speaking to mediapersons later, Das said, “Ram Janmabhoomi par mandir ka nirman bilkul nikat aa gaya hai… isliye pehle se hi Dipawali mana kar ke swagat kiya gaya hai (Time to build temple on Ram Janmabhoomi is very near… that is why Diwali is being celebrated to welcome it).”

He claimed that there was no doubt that construction of Ram temple will start during the regime of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. “Aur agli Dipawali Ram Mandir me Ram lalla virajman hon aur usi roop me manayi jaayegi (Next Diwali will be celebrated at the Ram temple with Lord Ram in it),” said Das — the head of Ram Janmaboomi Nyas, a body related to the construction of the Ram temple.

Carving stones for the Ram temple is going on under the Nyas’ supervision. Das, an accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case, is facing trial at a special court in Lucknow.

In its manifesto for the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls that it released on January 28, the BJP had promised to explore all possibilities within the Constitution for building a Ram temple in Ayodhya. On May 31, two months after he was sworn in, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Ayodhya and stressed the need to find a solution to the title suit of the disputed site through talks, and assured support from the state government should talks be held to resolve the issue. He made similar remarks on his next visit to Ayodhya, on July 26.

Amid all this, the UP government has been stepping up efforts to revive a Hindutva identity for Ayodhya. The government has been focusing extensively on development and cultural activities in Ayodhya that revolves around Ram, the Ramayana, the Saryu river and other places across the town.

The latest step in promoting this idea is the plan to build a “grand statue” of Lord Ram on the banks of the Saryu, as part of a plan to showcase “Navya Ayodhya”. Sources said that the plan of building the proposed 100-metre statue needs the nod of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and that, therefore, options of building the statue inside the city too are being explored, in case the NGT denies construction near the Saryu river.

According to a UP government official, the Union Ministry of Tourism recently has sanctioned more than 50 development projects worth a total Rs 133.30 crore for Ayodhya and also released 20% of the budget. These projects include site development with other facilities at the Ram Katha Gallery, a memorial to Queen Heo (a legendary figure with an Ayodhya connection), a multipurpose hall at Digambar Akhada, illumination of the façade of Ram ki Paidi, landscaping, development of Guptar Ghat with landscaping and park development, works at Laxman Qila ghat, solar lighting at five ghats and 10 other places in the city, eight police booths, CCTV cameras at 30 locations, development of drainage and a solid waste management system in the city, and development of pedestrian streets from Chowk Ayodhya Road to Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan and Dasharath Bhawan.

Over the last fortnight leading to Diwali, ministers and officers of the UP government, especially from the CM’s Office, toured Ayodhya frequently and held meetings with Faizabad district administration regarding celebration of the festival in Ayodhya on Wednesday in the form of Deepotsav. The celebrations began at 7 am with a heritage walk in the city. At 1 pm, a Shobhayatra was taken out from Saket College to depict the arrival of Lord Ram in Ayodhya after winning the war against Ravana. When the Shobhyatra reached Ram Katha park, CM Yogi did a symbolic rajyabhishek (coronation) of Lord Ram. On the same site, the CM laid the foundation stone for a number of projects for Ayodhya. Other events included aarti at Saryu ghat, the lighting of 1.71 lakh earthen lamps at Ram ki Paidi, and Ram Leela performed by artistes from Indonesia and Si Lanka.

UP Governor Ram Naik, Union Tourism Minister K J Alphons and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma were present on the occasion, along with a number of ministers of the UP government, as well as tourists and religious personalities. Ram Katha was displayed through a laser show. All these events were held at a distance of 2 to 5 km from the disputed site.

Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati, the Shankaracharya of Dwaraka-Sharda Peeth, said that there was no logic in the assertion that those born in India were Hindus as he claimed it would “eliminate the basic structure of society”.

He was reacting to the statement of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat that anybody living in India was a Hindu.

“The theory that one who is born in India is Hindu has no logic behind it since it will eliminate the basic structure of society,” the Shankaracharya told reporters in Vrindavan.

A real Hindu has faith in the Vedas and Shastras, while Muslims read the Quran and Hadith and Christians follow the Bible, he said.

Addressing a gathering in Tripura earlier this week, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief said, “Muslims in India are also Hindus.”

On the Ayodhya temple dispute, the Shankaracharya said that political parties did not have the right to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya. “Only Shankaracharyas and Dharmacharyas have the right to construct a temple in Ayodhya,” he added.

The government too cannot construct a temple as India is “a secular (dharm nirpeksh) country”, he said.

On a controversy surrounding the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in elections, the Hindu religious leader said that he was in favour of the use of ballot papers.

If most of the political parties do not want EVMs, the Election Commission should not stick to it, he said.

He said that pollution in the Ganga and Yamuna rivers has increased manifold and added that the government should shut dams or barrages on the two rivers to allow them to carry their natural flows of water.
