In tears, in loneliness: PM Hasina & Rehana while publishing father's book

. .
there is no such thing as an ideal political party period. The two party system is pretty much everywhere in the world, and everyone always wants to replace it with a 3rd political party. In the States, most people want an alternative from the Republican or Democrats, in the UK, people always talk about electing a third party other than conservative or labor. The only way a third political party is viable is thru a military coup at least in Bangladesh. I, personally, like an elected government more than any form of unelected government, call it a CTG, one party, military whatever. And secondly, I like a party who puts development first before ideology because we all know how ideologies change throughout time and it causes too much friction, and being a poor country, eradicating poverty should be high on the agenda.

.
pardon by ignorance but what is a ghoti?

@ " Ghoti" means "Lota" (in Urdu)or in Bengali "Badna" or in English "**** pot". Now once you are out of your house this "Ghoti" is very useful thing.

@ Now, once the people who were evicted from West Bengal and came to East Bengal or East Pakistan, they were very poor. But it was sure each have them atleast brought a "Ghoti" with them.

@ Now, once they came to our country for many years they remained in the refugee camps.

@ Now, once these refugees used to go in any public places either for job or for marital status they were known as "Ghoti". These titles were used to under mine the refugees.

.
Interesting version of Ghoti history. I always wondered about that word too.

Our thugocracy which is an extremely crude primitive form of democracy, is still better than military rule. But because of this crude form of democracy in a poor underdeveloped nation, CTG idea was adopted out of necessity, for smooth transfer of power. No party has the right to abolish it, so they can cement their own hold on power. Because of this I support the restoration of CTG which will help us have a more neutral and fair election. Of course development oriented parties would be better than ideological parties, but there is always ideology in the heart of every party, it is the philosophy or core belief systems of a party. So a development party would believe in the priority of development before anything else.

Khaleda Zia is a Ghoti. I heard Zia also had some ghoti things going on with him too. Ershad is a 100% Ghoti. Now who else left over.. Ohh yes, Al-Zakir, Md_Akmal Ghoti too as they migrated after 1947.

Maaaaaaaaaaan.. you are so lonely now.

Are you sure about that Iajdani? You are from Madavpur and I am from Jalalabad. Do you think you are more Sylheti than me or we don't even concider you guys real Sylheti. :azn:

But of course I am a descendant of Ashraf and proud of my Islamic heritage. ;)

That speaks your volume. If you do not like bengali culture you can leave Bangladesh. Bangladesh does not need any rajakar supporter remains in its midst. But have you seen the irony is even your Pakistani brethren is not ready to accept you and care less about you.

This is cute. A bloody migrant and root less to my soil pointing finger at me. Dhoti culture doesn't attract me and I have elaborate it many times here in PDF. Now I think you should migrate back to your grandmother land along with your brother Iajdani.

Its a derogatory slang word for describing people who have origin in West Bengal. I do not encourage or approve of discrimination based on place of origin. It is hurtful and divisive.

These low lives are Ehsaan faramosh. They need to be kicked out from Bd land. These ghaddars are working for their original masters. I rather deal with known enemy than these snake.

Ok Al-zakir bhai, where is your Islamic adab of Ashraf class? You know what they say about manners, it shows upbringing and lineage.

We are citizens of this land mass called Bangladesh, or at least we call it home on the face of the planet, where our people live. We should not fight among ourselves on issues like this. I have seen thana somitee, districtism, all kinds of divisive activities, growing up in Bangladesh, we do not need one more, ghoti vs non-ghoti. As long as people agree to pitch in and help the country, that is all we need. Having 90% Bengali Muslims as united majority is one of our biggest strength, we should be thinking more about unity instead of emphasizing our minor differences. But it is even better to extend the message of unity for 100% of our people, regardless of our lineage, home district, religion, ethnic group etc. Way back many of our ancestors who came from other lands, did not even speak Bengali, so these regional variations, even within South Asia, I consider as minor.

These low lives are Ehsaan faramosh. They need to be kicked out from Bd land. These ghaddars are working for their original masters. I rather deal with known enemy than these snake.

We just have to be careful and make sure that loyalty remains with landmass and people of Bangladesh, rather than any foreign land. That is my personal opinion, but you may disagree which I have to respect.

@ As per my experiences goes about this "Ghoti" people, these "Ghoties" were forceably evicted or vollentarilly came to East Bengal either from Assam or West Bengal or other places of India. Ghotis was those who only came from West Bengal. I find those refugees who migrated from Calcutta and surrpounding are very much fond of old Bengali songs. There were many who came from Assam but they were known as Assamies. There were another group who came from and other parts of India all are grouped as "Biharis".

@ Most of these people are basically anti-India as they suffered a lot. I saw people who migrated from Maldah are out and out anti-India. But again th people who came from Mushidabad and Calcutta are pro-Indian. Most of the Assamies after staying in East Pakistan for few years again went back to Assam.

@ Various groups with distinct ethnic background behaves differently in relation to India.

Was the authenticity of the manuscript verified first? Was the book published 'as it is' without any manipulation?

Not always the case. many perhaps most ghotis came on their own during and after partition. Also ghotis are very much loyal to india or indian cause. You want to see some prominent examples:

Rehman Sobhan and Farooq Sobhan are two prime examples. These two so called ghoti sushils are working against Bangladesh and for indian cause day and night for years now. If you have difficulty tracking their work on transit let me know.

Then another ghoti Hasan Imam constantly working for indian cause.

Ex BDR chief and now Lt Gen Mainul Islam who once jutified BSF killing is also a ghoti.

Gawhar Rizvi advisor to Sheikh Hasina and most prominent indian mole inside Awami League regime is also said to be ghoti origin.

There are many more.......

You may be right but people who are using "rajakar" "bihari" "Jamati" etc need to be called what they are. Besides, he admitted that his heritage is as such. This is not about discrimination but to get better understanding about how mentality of these group evolve. See the examples I have given to Akmal bahi, hope that clears things up.

you may not know this but currently most top secretarial positions are currently held by hindus in bangladesh. Even sonali bank's chairman is a ghoti. One of the top 5 guy of BTCL is a ghoti.. Even all top shot agents (dalals) are currently ghotis. I met one ghoti who has a condo in bombay, one in calcutta and one in dhaka. Very highly connected with literally every ministry and secretarial position. He even has connections with a highly top politician of India (not naming names) Now you be the judge what all of them are (wink) (wink). Its pretty bad in dhaka at the moment.

.
@ The top echelon of ghoties may be pro-Indian but I have seen people of Satkhira, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Kushtia, Rajshahi, Nababganj those who came from India were out and out anti-India.
