Kashmir, as a disputed territory, is one of the most militarized places in the world. Massacre and harassment of Muslims by the Indian military has become a permanent feature of everyday life in the Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Instead of granting the Kashmiri Muslims their legal right of self-determination, many kinds of state terrorism have become part of routine by the Indian Army against Muslim Kashmiris. Crackdowns, curfews, illegal detentions, massacre, targeted killings, sieges, burning the houses, torture, disappearances, rape, beatings, molestation of women and killing of innocent Kashmiris through fake encounter has been happening in Indian-occupied Kashmir since decades. There is no Kashmiri family which is not either directly or indirectly a victim of the state violence.
Despite the unjustified forms of genocide and harassment, struggle of Freedom by the Kashmiri people continues and will remain continue until they get their legitimate right of self-determination.
The sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri martyrs have put the Kashmir dispute at the international level and it demands Justice. The situation in Kashmir appeals the world human rights organizations to take notice of the brutalities being committed by Indian troops and police personnel in the territory. But the non-condemnation of human rights violations in Kashmir and non-interference for the settlement of this issue by the so-called civilized international communities, especially the UN, further encourages India to keep on going with its atrocities on innocent Kashmirs.
The perception becomes quite obvious that the international community is selective in its actions and policy implementation, in the cases of human rights abuses in different parts of the world, more specifically in the Muslim world.
To protest against Indian atrocities in Occupied-Kashmir, Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed on 5 February each year across Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. The observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day is always aimed to draw the world community towards the sufferings of Kashmiri people and to appeal the international community to take actions for resolution of Kashmir dispute as per the aspirations of Kashmiri people. This Solidarity sends a loud and clear message to the so-called Democracy of India that Kashmiris reject its illegal occupation of Kashmir and that the struggle of Freedom will remain continued till they get rid of Indian suppression.
Amidst the dilemma that our mainstream media and the government policy backing it, is hell-bent on dwindling the core values of the nation, trying to impair the national vision in terms of beliefs and vital issues; it is the social and alternative media that has taken the flag of national inspiration in its hands. The social media has become a tool in the hands of aware citizens, who mistrust the mainstream, a means to show what they really think and want. On this vital occasion the social media and the common people of the country have served each other to prove that the Kashmir Cause has by no means been diluted, and that the love for the Kashmiri brethren and the sensitivity to their suffering is alive and gushing in the hearts and minds of the Pakistani people.
To renew the pledge of continued support to the brethren in Occupied-Kashmir, PKKH Team tried to play its role by observing Kashmir-solidarity Week at Social media. From 1st February 2013 till 5th February 2013, social networks in Pakistan were rocked by the supportive slogans for Occupied-Kashmir. The following trends introduced by PKKH kept on trending at top, each day.
Exclusive messages by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Asia Andrabi , Hafiz Saeed, Shabbiar Shah, General Hamid Gul and Ahmad Qureshi were also recorded by PKKH Team for validating Solidarity between Pakistan and Kashmir on the Kashmir Solidarity Day. Moreover PKKH Team came up with pictures, notes and sketches and exclusive slide shows like Kahani Kashmir Ki containing solidarity messages for Kashmir.
