I m also strongly against the change of the constitution I m still hoping things may turn out different from what it seems to be.

XI does have a little bit of high ground in this case. (Not strong on but legit one) As many people have pointed out already, the title of head of states has ZERO power. It's an empty position. Xi's true power come from his head of the party, and that has no term limit. It's legal and constitutional legit to have a person be head of party and to let other's to have the head of States. This will create power struggle, which is very dangerous. So what Xi is doing is to correct and fix the constitution in a good way. Now with this whole plugged, you can implement a much better system later on top it. Otherwise, its a major hole in the constitution which is laughable.

I agree that Deng was the single greatest leader for now. But I have full confidence that xi will surpass him.
If you look at what Xi is doing for past 5 years, he just cleans up the mess that left by his previous.
Corruption issue, Pollution issue, finical debt, housing bubble and military issue. After all of these have been improved significantly. He just started doing his own agenda.

Look at Chen Xiaolu, the youngest son of Marshal Chen Yi. He was involved in a trillion money laundering scandal, but I don't blame his father, since Marshal Chen Yi passed away in 1972, and his son's felony really has nothing to do with him. But Deng Xiaoping is a different story. His children had started to amass wealth when he was still alive. If he was a wise leader, he should warn his children of not doing this, but he didn't do anything to prevent them of stealing from the Chinese people.

BTW, Hu Jintao was a puppet himself, so his appointed successor is also a puppet. Tuanpai often trained those grassroot leaders to become the puppets for the corrupt princeling families.

If Deng's family corruption started after his death, I wouldn't blame Deng Xiaoping at all. However, Deng Xiaoping clearly connived his children to plunder more wealth from the Chinese people. He was a super corrupt leader.

A whole generation of half illiterates caused China enomous pain even decades after his deathl. Deng restarted the Chiniese higher education so the lost generation can go back to school even they were already in their 30's, Xi was also one of them. He also sent vast majority of Chinese intellectuals to the countryside to work as local farmers as so called reeducation program, How can you build a country without educated population? That insanity goes beyound everyone's comprehension.
