BENGALURU: In his 48 months as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi made 41 trips to over 50 countries, at a total cost of Rs 355 crore. He was abroad for a cumulative 165 days.

This was revealed through replies to Right to Information (RTI) queries submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) by RTI activist Bhimappa Gadad, who shared these replies with The New Indian Express.

Of these 41 trips by PM Modi to 52 countries, the highest amount was spent on his nine-day tri-nation visit to
France, Germany and Canada between April 9 and 15, 2015, which incurred expenses to the tune of Rs 31,25,78,000; and the least expensive trip was his very first one as Prime Minister, to Bhutan on June 15-16, 2014 at a cost of Rs 2,45,27,465.

Gadad, who filed the RTI petition seeking details about expenses on PM’s foreign trips, said he filed it out of curiosity. “ A few years ago, I had applied for details of foreign visits by chief ministers of Karnataka. Recently, I was going through news reports wherein Prime Minister’s foreign visits were heavily criticized. Then I applied under RTI seeking details of PM’s foreign visits and I was really shocked to know the details,” he said.

He is bitter about the PMO not providing information on domestic travels of the Prime Minister. “They have not furnished details of domestic visits and expenses for security provided during the visits. I did not ask for details of security measures. I just asked for the expenses, but they refused, saying the SPG security organisation, which takes care of PM security, is exempted from the purview of RTI,” he said.

“Though I got the information out of curiosity, I want it to reach the public. Everyone should know about it,” he said, adding that the Centre should also release reports on the benefits to the country emerging from these visits.

Thank you for feeding him beef biryani masquerading as a soya biryani.

I think we serving donkey meat in those but i am sure people would have asked first of his preference. Usually they bring their own cook and poison tester. Glory to the man who poison check Modi's food.

But it was nice having the Prime Minister of the Biggest Democracy of the World India in Pakistan.

Feeding donkey meat to a donkey. That's cannibalism. Not that I mind.

It was very kind of good looking Pakistanis to host our ugly PM.

Thanks to PM Modi for coming in Bangladesh in 2015 and resolving the long pending enclave and border issue. He is likely to visit Dhaka this year.Hope Teesta water treaty will be materialize during this visit.

:rofl:

.
Modi has done brilliant job and specially if I talk about relationship with Saudi, Iran, Qatar, Palestine, Israel, Indonesia, France, US and Russia.

If only Modi will do all works then why other ministers and leaders are in Parliament and cabinet?

That enclave issue resolution was indeed a moment of strong cooperation. However i have little hope for Theesta water agreement. A binding agreement would be a no go for India. we have bad experience with IWT. However a non binding consensual agreement would be plausible as it keeps our leverage open.

That is quite cheap i must say. around 1.1 Million $ a country. Much cheaper than predecessors.

i thought pakistanis were great hosts....
or may be you carried away with the person you responding....

We are. We eat the same stuff as our guests. Guests in Pakistan are given better bread than the host.
It does not matter who comes visit us if he comes in peace. Modi maybe a butcher in Gujarat, but he came here as your Prime Minister, representing the biggest democracy of the world, the biggest migrant producing country, but he came in Peace and as your representative.

@Homo Sapiens

Do you daydream a lot? What has Bangladesh got from India regarding its water resources since its creation?

Last time anything to restrain India regarding water supply was by then Pakistani establishment in 1970, where they only were successful in delaying the operations of Furakka Dam which was completed by mid 70s due to building a diversion line or tunnel? or something. Reservoir was complete.
Bangladesh has only surrendered its water resources, rivers to India since 71. AS its pre-occupied in celebrating 71, institutionalizing hatred against their only developer Pakistan and pro-hindoo liar Rabindranath Tagore, it has given up on many of its interests. Saale ek or dam to bana nahi sake.
Non-Muslim Hasina Nasreen only was able to do a temporary water treaty in 1996 which mite end few years from now.
Teesta treaty is not possible as the time count grows and China looks to build dams on it.

@Quibbler

Well said but due to IWT you captured 3 of the rivers flowing into Pakistan. Ravi, Sutlej, Beas. Only issue troubling you is third party arbitration same with Nepal, but you also don't have any water treaty with China. If you deny and exhaust Bangladesh of water won't China exhaust your resources? Bangladesh has put toomany eggs in the rapistani basket and zero friends to find a third party to support them.
