ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan warned on Wednesday legal action in London if anything happens to workers of his party in Karachi.
Khan said he was going to Karachi to end an “atmosphere of fear”.
The PTI chairman was speaking to reporters as he left his residence in Bani Gala this morning to head to Hyderabad, where he will stay for a few hours before going to Karachi's NA-246 later tonight.
The PTI chairman is headed to Karachi to support his party's candidate Imran Ismail to campaign for the by-election in Karachi's NA-246 scheduled for April 23.
“These places will remain no-go areas if people like me don’t go there,” he said, referring to Karachi NA-246 Azizabad constituency which is considered a stronghold of the Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM).
"This atmosphere of fear which restricts voters and candidates will have to end. These no-go areas are unconstitutional,” he said.
Khan said that he was heading to Hyderabad, where he would meet intellectuals and party supporters, after which he would travel to Karachi later tonight.
The PTI chairman said that he would campaign with party workers and supporters on Thursday in NA-246.
Khan said that his party has a team of lawyers in London who were ready to take legal action if anything happens to PTI workers or supporters in Karachi.
“We have a legal team in London. If anything happened to my workers, we will take legal action against (MQM chief) Altaf Hussain. He incites people to violence, and they have a law (in Britain) against that,” he said.
