The Tamil Nadu school education minister clarified that the government will continue the state policy of dual-language method of education.

The Tamil Nadu government and opposition parties in the state on Saturday protested the central government’s proposed three-language system in schools across India, a media report said.

“Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has written to the Centre stating that Tamil Nadu will continue to have a two-language mode in the State,” the report quoted state school education minister Sengottaiyan as saying.

The minister clarified that the government will continue the state policy of dual-language method of education.

The National Education Policy 2019, drafted by an expert committee, states that non-Hindi speaking states would include the regional language, English and Hindi, while states where Hindi is spoken would have English and another modern Indian language in addition to Hindi.

‘Students will be required to attain proficiency in discussing their major in at least one Indian language through an appropriate written project or presentation in that language,’ the policy says.

Opposing the triple-language policy of the Centre, DMK MP Tiruchi Siva said, “Forcing Hindi in Tamil Nadu is like setting a warehouse on fire.” The DMK will do what it takes to oppose the move, Siva added.

“The DMK will oppose in Parliament if any language, not just Hindi, is thrust upon us,” said DMK MP Kanimozhi to reporters, adding that her party would not allow any policy that is against a specific language.

Leader of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) T T V Dhinakaran too protested the move. ‘The order by Central government to include Hindi as a mandatory subject till class eight is condemnable,’ he tweeted.

Actor and founder of the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Kamal Haasan stated that learning the language cannot be made compulsory. “I have acted in Hindi films; my opinion is that nothing should be enforced and people should decide what they can learn,” he said.

They have always been really bragging that India has never wanted to impose any language instead of their mother tongue..
First you impose English and now full on hindi.
That is the first step in the wrong direction...

For all the Pakistanis here. Let's not forget that Urdu has been emposed on every province since Pakistan's inception. And it has been given priority over regional languages in the country. It's gotten to the point that new generations of children in Punjab and Sindh barely speak Punjabi, potthari, saraeki, Sindhi, and other languages anymore.

And for anyone claiming that I'm some Urdu hating person. Just so you all know. Urdu is my first language. My mum is pakhtun and my father is kashmiri raj put. But we spoke Urdu only in the house. My mum forbade anything other than Urdu.

. .
Hindi should be the only national language in India and English should be the official language. All other languages should be removed.

Well that's your and your parents fault/choice. Some people don't even teach urdu these days, instead they opt for English from the start. Setting Urdu as national language was for the unification and lessening the communication barrier. After losing East Pakistan the rest of Pakistan is not that big of a country, one language is/was important for it to grow. In kpk people talk in their own language but they understand urdu, so when a local tourist or a businessman goes there, it is no problem, same is the case with other provinces. Your isolated story doesn't represent the whole 207 million population and we are happy for urdu being an official language.

No language is imposed over the other. It'll be easier for communication if people are bilingual especially in a country like India. Some Tamils are language crazies even they don't speak the senthamizh (chenthamizh ;)) they talk in a dialect otoh it's subtle.

@Nilgiri why do you use the word senthamizh instead of Chentamizh I thought that was original. But interestingly most Tamil people I know say it's senthamizh.

their bragging unity in diversity , has been busted
paya... unak tamile teriyath, tiruttu moonji. :disagree:

There is a need for an independent homeland for Tamils in south india, Tamils shouldn't be under the rule of bhayyas of UP or have to use the bhayya language of hindi. We should fully support Tamil freedom aspirations.

What a love for "hindi" language of bhayyas of UP india.

Thanks but no thanks. No Indians support these kinds of actions, a very few coffee club separatist exist in TN, that too almost extinct. Tamils are not under India or above India, they are Indians who are ruling us along with other Indians.

If you think of Tamil Freedom Aspiration, then welcome to try, the Madras regiment is eagerly waiting for it.:enjoy:
