IMF gives us hard currency aka dollars.

Pakistan uses these dollars to pay for everything from interest payments, bond payments, petroleum to tea and everything in between. This can total to be $20-30 billion every year if I am not mistaken.

primary source of dollars (other than US +IMF) is labor remittances and meager exports of rice and cotton to the tune of $15-20 billion a year.

Based on our budget historically, we have a shortfall of $5-10 billion of hard cash every year. This shortfall is fulfilled using American and American supported funding sources like IMF.

We cannot print dollars. No forking way. (No one will accept rupees outside Pakistan). West will bomb the $hit out of us or noone will trust us with our payments. North Korea tried and miserably failed.

So how the fork we can support a country of 200 million people whose primary source of dollars (other than US +IMF) is labor remittances and meager exports of rice and cotton.

How?

All those who bark against IMF are worse than village idiots.

For your information, Pakistan have a lot of things which Pakistan can export each year to earn Billions of Dollars but your leaders concentrate on building their mills. Just have a look at Pakistan Natural Resources in which some are very few in the world.

Because we elect uneducated or educated jahils to our assemblies. How hard is it for anyone to understand? IMF is a lender and their loans come with conditions to straighten up your act (remove subsidies, reform tax structure etc). When the government fails to implement these reforms and waste the loan money, they start spewing BS about IMF to shift the blame.

First Zardari looted country and we came to this stage. Now i can predict with Nawaz retirement Pakistan will go bankrupt.

$5-10 billion of hard cash every year
its nothing if someone is serious to do it.
1. break all barriers between foreign or local investments. all chaipani wallas.
2. registration of all businesses including small shops or theas and bring them in tax net.
3. overhaul nab, tax depts
4. stop all political interferences in institutions specially business ones.
5. if they can do nro, why not try to convince them and make a new deal. ok its your money bring it back and invest here in pakistan. win win for both public and them. (i think this is they are trying to do now bringing their money back through china which is good if my observations are right).
6. will (if we were doing better during sanctions time. yes we can do it now).

There is one way I see to escape this trap....
See pak has been exporting low value stuff like cotton , fruits , textiles and maybe a few ores. Instead why can Pak not export Fabric and say steel ? e.g. pak has cotton and manpower so cotton + manpower = shirts! or minerals + manpower = metals !
But since population is high incremental thinking will simply fall short :(.
The solution is to take an orbital leap :).
Example :-
India announced a bullet train and got a lot of bad press as we "don't have toilets" :( . A bullet train takes about 8 yrs to complete ... :( if we wait till everyone is pulled out of poverty then game over :(.
See there was a thread that india will create a 5000 cr INR supercomputer network for students. Ofcourse posters came in with the "no toilets" $hit but overlook the fact that the millions of people studying at uni's will need all those computers to solve india's problems.
This is the next big thing in india
Watch the first few mins atleast.

Pakistan have a lot of things that it can export and I would not like to answer your question because you will take it negatively. If someone else ask me the same question I can answer him if he is a Pakistani :D

IMF is just a ‘Bank’. Anyone who has gone to bank for an overdraft or a loan will know that it is a rigorous process and the Manager will ask you sign 20 different forms in order to ensure your ability to pay the bank and ask for a collateral as security to ensure that money lent to you would be safe.

IMF never offers to lend money. It is the countries that go begging to the IMF because country’s finances have been mismanaged and the country is unable to meet short term commitments. Besides, IMF loans are mostly on very soft terms, much below the rates the commercial bank would lend you money. For Heaven’s Sake, if you don’t like the terms, don’t take the money and live with the consequences.

It is tragic and height of stupidity among Pakistani media in particular that instead of cursing incompetence of the government that is making the country bankrupt; economic ills are blamed on the IMF.

Regrettably Pakistanis are too much used to getting their loans written off and expect that IMF will lend us money without any conditions. Are we doing a favour to the IMF by accepting the loan?

Sorry mate, life sucks.

once Ik becomes pm there willbe no loans from imf. billions of ppl from his rallies and almost all overseas pskistanis will donate ik to run he nation. the way hospital got built , nation will be built too.

You are right currently Pakistan don't even need any loan if our govt runs the country properly. Even if corruption is removed we don't need any loan.
