IIIT-A -Two Students Selcted by Facebook Rs 60 lakh annum (INR)

ALLAHABAD: Two students of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad(IIIT-A) have landed lucrative job with popular social networking site Facebook for a salary of Rs pe 60 lakh annum. Another student has been selected as student ambassador of Google, bringing the institute on the international IT map.

Sharing the development with TOI, institute director, MD Tiwari said "Ankit Gupta and Yogesh Sharma have been recruited by the Facebook. Both are B Tech final year students. Their batch-mate Divanshu Garg has been chosen as the Google Student Ambassador to represent IIIT-A for the upcoming academic year."

Tiwari further said that information about Garg's selection was received through a communique issued on July 1, 2013 by Sunil Rao, country head - outreach programmes, Google India. In the communique Ra wrote "This year, we have witnessed unprecedented response and excitement to the Google Student Ambassador programme with over 1,750 strong candidates from more than 100 towns and cities across India vying for the coveted title."

Tiwari further said that many companies visited the campus in 2012-2013 session. He said that the institute's B Tech students achieved 100% placement in a dozen of companies. "More than 70% of the students got dream package of above Rs 5.5 lakh. The highest package received by a student was Rs 60 lakh. The companies that recruited institute's students, included Google, Microsoft, Walmart, Yahoo, Amazon, Facebook and Verizon." These companies not only recruited students but also offered PPOs to pre-final year students, he added.

Microsoft recruited Nishant Garg, Ajeet Kumar, Rohit Raj and Karan Rawat for a package of Rs 18 lakh per annum, while Walmart offered a package of Rs 22 lakh. Many other reputed companies like IBM, TCS, and Sapient also visited the campus and recruited the students in bulk.

He added that by providing a unique combination of highly-qualified faculty and unmatched course content, IIIT-Allahabad had prepared students to occupy positions of stature in the volatile corporate world. "Our Students have been selected on an all-India basis and are the top 0.5% of the nations talent pool. The students are a mosaic of innovation, brilliance and sincerity with a zeal for making their mark in the world," he added.

The faculty in-charge, placement, Shishu Varma said that the placement of B Tech students was outstanding. These companies not only recruited students for jobs but also offered PPOs to the pre-final year students.

Last it was high Facebook offered 75 L. some NIT guy , This time i guess Economic Down lowered package , Facebook had low time this year.

:lol:why is this even a news? student get recruited all the time in University and 60 lac rupees per annum is not even a big amount...its quite average if you are working for a big firm..thread should be close...

IIIT-Allahabad is already very reputed for their courses in Computer Science and Information Technology, the shock comes from the regional Engineering colleges i have studied from, 4-5 student from our class got into firms likes Texas Instruments, American Express and likes for salary exceeding 15 Lakhs.

Very average if you're in US, even the premier Universities like NYU, University of Wisconsin, Madison, John Hopkins has an average salary of just over $60K right after bachelors, and mid career salary stands at 90-120K.

I'd be lucky to get anywhere $80K after my Masters, that too in Nanotech, and yes, i'm from a Tier 1 US National University.
