Would u ever go to UK, if this happens???

Visitors from India and other 'high risk' countries in Asia and Africa will be forced to pay £3,000 cash bond before they enter UK

- Plans by Home Secretary mean visitors lose their cash if they overstay visa
- India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to be targeted
- Pilot scheme will later be extended to cover work permits and student visas

Tens of thousands of visitors from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria will be forced to pay a £3,000 bond to be allowed to enter Britain.

They will only get the money back once they leave the country in a bid to end abuse of the visa system.

Home Secretary Theresa May said the intention was to make the immigration system more ‘selective’ and deter people from ‘overstaying’ once their visitor visa has expired. In the long-term, she hopes to extend the Australian-style bond scheme to also include foreign workers and students.

The idea will be welcomed by backbench Tory MPs, who have been urging the government to take a tougher line on immigration to combat the threat of UKIP.

But it is likely to face legal challenges on the grounds that – because it targets only people from so-called ‘high risk’ countries – it is discriminatory.

There are also fears it may lead to countries such as India making British tourists pay a similar bond.

The scheme will be piloted from November, for people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Ghana. They are being targeted because of the high volume of visitor visa applications and relatively high levels of abuse.

The £3,000 bonds are part of Mrs May's plans to bring annual net migration to under 100,000 by 2015

Immigration bonds have been repeatedly considered by ministers over the years, but have never been successfully introduced.

Labour abandoned its own plans for a £1,000 bond in 2008 amid an outcry from migrant rights groups.

They claim the policy is discriminatory as it does not apply to people from countries such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Keith Vaz, chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, said the idea was ‘unworkable’ and ‘impractical’.

Mr Vaz, an ex-Foreign Office minister, claimed it would not deter people from trying to stay on after their visas ended, and said the targeted countries would be ‘likely to retaliate’.

The policy has the backing of Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg. He suggested the introduction of bonds in March, though was proposing the level should be fixed at £1,000.

The move will require a change in the immigration rules but not a vote by MPs.

. . . . . . .
Why targetting paricular countries?? Make it for all or for no one.

.
I don't blame them because our people give them reasons to come up with such stupid rules and its because we misuse their visa system and social welfare system. People in bold countries try to enter here on false documents and claim asylum on false fabricated stories . People also misuse student and visitor route to find illegal work in here and because of such people genuine student or visitor face hardship in obtaining visa

.
There could be other ways. Reform the visa system along with the immigration system.

Then don't go to the UK, no one is forcing you. It is their country and they have a right to protect it's interests.

At the end of the day their country is facing an immigration crisis because people are coming in and not leaving, they don't have enough jobs or homes for their own population and now they have a serious issue of free movement from people within the EU zone including Poland, Romania, Bulgaria etc...

These people will come to the UK, 90% of the time will take the lower paid jobs away from the indigenous population and drive up net unemployment, the remittances they will send back to their homes in x country will not be transferred via banks nor will they be taxed on this, hence the UK will loose out.

Couple this with the fact the the UK has a serious issue where people come for something called "Health Tourism" to avail the free services offered by their national health service, moreover due to the nature of their health service they are duty bound to treat you without an insurance card being present on your person. This leads to bills that are left unpaid and the UK taxpayer will have to foot this, which is fair how?

In the long run these "grey" workers have a serious detrimental impact on the economy and overall outlook for a country, take Australia for example Post 2005 they implemented some stringent immigration measures and now they are not doing so bad.

If they're smart they're gonna' fight the EU over this or leave it and slam the door on their way out.UKIP is gaining momentum over EU and outside immigration and for good reason so that's why Cameron is trying to do something before the next elections.I am saying this as a romanian but the brits are right, forcing them to receive all of the world's rif raf is insane.

why would anyone go to UK? France and Germany, as well as Austria and Czech is much more fun for vacation.

Though I would never live there, it is cool to relax there sometimes as the EU is a very relaxing atmosphere to where I am currently based and where I came from.

UK is certainly full of itself, like it is still the center of the world.
