Nope. It's not just about orders. Yes, everyone wants to remain safe and live a quite life. But, I believe it's the determination to fight in the way of Allah and also to protect one's motherland. Here, we have volunteers who sign up to go to Siachin...why? Siachin does not have any strategic or any military value, but still, they go there because if we back down, it will hurt our country's image and position. (Though, I personally believe we should retreat from that area).
Sometimes, logic and rationality takes back seat.

This is an off-topic Q, but regarding the bolded, given the IA's track record, would PA retreating from positions opposite Siachin not encourage IA to ingress further?

I have no doubt Pakistan will fight not just to the last bullet, but to the last man. There is only one side where surrender is the norm and it certainly is not Pakistan.
That’s not true. Pakistani soldiers have surrendered in in the past. There have been desertions as wel.
On topic, always sad to see when a soldier dies on duty.
Hope the family is paid the respect that they deserve.
I always appreciate the passion for the armed forces that exists in Pakistan.

We have great soldier and greater mother but the worst politicians and some commanders are poor leaders

I think they would prefer retreating back too but of course with a narrative spinning as-India defeats Pakistan at Siachin; Forcing Pak Army to abondon posts- or something.
