Only those students will be given laptops of North Waziristan who will apply.there are Student among those IDP's... aren't there any?? Shahbaz Shareef is talking about them that like other deserving student the students of waziristan will also get Laptops... what's wrong in that?? he's not giving each and every person of IDP's free laptops but the students of waziristan
Soon to be seen being sold on carts in Bara market Peshawar..
What exactly will the people lacking basic facilities be doing with laptops?
On the flipside, maybe this is a very positive idea(along with making more money on the commissions in laptops).
It will allow these people greater exposure to the outside world and help them communicate with loved ones working in cities elsewhere.. even those toiling in the middle east.
@JazzbotThe Punjab government is mulling over ‘technologically equipping’ displaced students from North Waziristan by providing them with laptops, Pakistan Today has learnt.
According to sources, officials of the Higher Education Department are deliberating over the proposal, which will soon be submitted to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for approval.
The federal government has already announced the provision of 100,000 laptops to talented students under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme while the Punjab government will distribute an additional 25,000 laptops to deserving students.
During its previous tenure, the Punjab government had announced the provision of laptops to university students but this year, laptops will be given even to matriculation students. The Higher Education Department has already started coordination with the educational institutions concerned in this regard.
According to sources, the plan to distribute laptops among NWA IDPs is also being discussed. “There may be a separate announcement by the Punjab CM for distribution of laptops to students among the IDPs or a quota may be reserved for the IDPs in the already decided pool; whichever the CM may approve,” the source said.
According to FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA), the number of IDPs has reached 750,000, so far.
It is uncertain as to how many students are enlisted as IDPs but a senior official said that gathering the data is very easy. “Those who are interested in getting the laptop will submit an application and the government will get the record from the educational institutions concerned,” the official said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central Information Secretary Shireen Mazari has said that the distribution of laptops among the IDPs would be “ridiculous” as the IDPs are presently deprived of even the basic necessities of life.
“The government should focus on complete and smooth provision of electricity to the IDPs instead of considering the distribution of laptops to them,” said Mazari added.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Punjab Higher Education Secretary Abdullah Sumbal said that the government is presently planning to set up mobile colleges and summer camps for the IDPs, “which is more important than the distribution of laptops to them”.
Speaking to Pakistan Today, Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said that the provision of laptops to IDPs is just a proposal and will be forwarded to the finance department only after the CM’s approval.
“The finance department’s job is only to make releases,” he said.

Thats an interesting choice of words.......Fake dell laptops....are these made in darra adam khel?So they are going to plug in their laptop chargers into their tents? any sockets in there? with no Electricity or when they go back to their Native places they have almost no Electricity.
Last time shabaz awarded fake dell laptops with pirated copy of Windows 7 and many had no windows but free Ubuntu.
It's ok to disagree but when people do, they do it so blantly. They'd say the metro train is made in China, generators are made in house, train engines die the next day.@Jazzbot

Some tax is not valid but people charge it, just to make extra money. That way gov't gets the blame and the purchaser give in due to thinking another seller will also charge tax.I wish we have same tax system in Pakistan which is running over here..road tax, council tax, income tax, national insurance tax, parking tax..so many taxes and you pay taxes according to your earning.
