Idols of Hindu temple desecrated in Sindh’s Gharo

Police in Gharo on Friday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against three persons for allegedly desecrating deities inside a Hindu temple in Thatta.

According to community leaders, unknown miscreants entered the temple of Rama Pir and dumped their sacred idols in sewage lines after desecrating them.

Gharo Town Committee Councillor Lal Mehshwari, while talking to Dawn, said the condemnable act was carried out on the eve of an annual festival at their place of worship, urging the authorities concerned to take a strong notice.

The police registered the FIR under sections of 295 A of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section six and seven of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) on charges of blasphemy and terrorism on behalf of the state.

If we muslims were like hindus of india we would've exterminated every little hindu we have in pakistan after what hindus are doing to muslims in india, only thing holding us back is islam..., members here dont need to indulge hindus with debates, they dont have any moral right to argue over minorities else where when their own state is a terrorist entity openly stating that they want to convert muslims back to hinduism, here these incidents happen once in a year n on that too our state takes strict action while in india the state itself is involved in terrorising minorities...

my fellow Pakistani Hindus, Sikhs and Christians are my equal. there are some stupid people who upset this sdtatus quo but they are a minority and will be dealt with. these Hindu Pakistanis are not the same as the vermin in India. Pakistan Blasphemy Laws (i.e. 295-B and 295-C) were introduced by General Zia (in 1982/86). They deal with desecration of the Holy Qur'an (life imprisonment for offenders) and using of derogatory remarks in respect of the Holy Prophet (mandatory death penalty for offenders) only, and do not apply to sacred texts/religious personalities of other religions.

Desecration of religious places of Non Muslims (or Muslims) however is a punishable offense under Section 295 (A) of Pakistan Penal Code. This law (enacted in 1927), unlike 295-B and 295-C, does not stipulate life imprisonment or capital punishment for the offenders.
