IDF Training for Ground Invasion of Lebanon

The IDF is rehearsing scenarios of mass rioting combined with guerrilla warfare, which it may encounter if and when it invades Lebanon and takes over villages there. The disclosure was made by IDF officers in a report featured on the IDF's official website – and can safely be assumed to be an intentional warning to Lebanon and Hezbollah that the IDF is capable of a ground invasion of Israel's northern neighbor.

The report says that the IDF is preparing for the possibility that in a spontaneous reaction to the conquest of a village by Israeli forces, the residents will stage a massive riot.

"We are preparing for a similar reality to the one Americans are encountering in Afghanistan,” 7th Regiment Commander, Col. Nadav Lotan, explained recently, according to the IDF Website report. “That is – we take over a village, and the riots begin.” The rioting is expected to involve local-level violence as well as more professional weaponry andtactics.

"These will not be your typical disturbances, of the type we see in Judea and Samaria,” Lotan told commanders in an exercise practicing urban warfare. “It is possible, rather, that we will see riots that include IEDs and light weapons fire.”

“The longer the IDF stays in the village, the greater the ferment,” explained Lt. Col. Neria Yeshurun, commander of the regiment's 82ndBattalion.

"It is important to be prepared for everything,” Yeshurun told the IDF Website. Planning for this contingency includes logistical preparation of the tanks that will be involved in the urban warfare scenario.

Tensio between Israel and the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah has been high lately, following attacks by Hezbollah along Israel's northern border.

The IDF Northern Command announced last week that it was changing its orders regarding opening fire in areas along the Golan border fence. Anyone from the Syrian side who comes near the fence should expect to be shot, the IDF said.

The new orders were issued in response to recent attacks against the IDF. In mid March, IDF forces clashed with terrorists, opening fire on Hezbollah after terrorists placed an explosive on the border fence with Syria. A group of suspicious figures approached the fence in the middle of the night, and attempted to blow up the barrier. The IDF responded by shooting from light weapons and firing artillery shells to wipe out the terror attempt.

Previously, soldiers would fire in the air to warn off and ward off suspicious figures. No longer; now, soldiers will immediately open fire in the direction of suspicious looking characters.

I don't think Israel is eyeing on Southern Lebanon for now, maybe Hamas's Gaza?

Pick a fight with who ?
the thread is about israel and lebenon yzdi :)
and why not a good time ?

I don't think it is the right time for Israel to pick up a fight with Hezbollah, at least for now.

Does the training also include team working with their Al Qaeda dogs backstabbing Hezbollah in the north?

It isn't about Muslims or Jews getting ready or not.

It is all about the 60 thousands rockets waiting Hezbullah to strike Israel.

On the other hand, Hezbollah isn't fully prepared either.

If you want peace prepare for war. Israel does not have any plans to annex Lebanese lands and never had.

For example in 1948 Lebanon invaded Israel. Israel pushed them back and captured 12 villages in Lebanon. In 1949 we returned all lands to Lebanon without conditions.

Same happened other times when we were attacked by Lebanon.

Unfortunately, you're right Yzd, Egypt opened the border and all foreigners have largely left. Mysteriously, somebody fired 4 rockets today and Hamas military sites were targeted by Israel as we're speaking. I fear they are planning to invade Gaza once again, may God help the people of Gaza. Over the past month my sources have been reporting much land incursions and training exercises near Gaza. I have a live thread on it right now, please check it out.

I told you dude...I don't think they're eying Lebanon though...because in 2012 it was seen as a Hamas victory and they may want to come back and try restoring their deterrence and appear victorious. This is what they do every couple of years, Lebanon will come soon though.

This is what they do every couple of years, Lebanon will come soon though.

It depends on whether or not they will be successful in achieving a decisive victory over Hamas in Gaza.
I honestly dont think Israel will get a strategic victory in Gaza, ever again.

Look at it this way, after 2006 they felt humiliated and wanted to prepare intensely for an attack and that happened against Gaza in 2009. They want to make sure everybody around them fears them, so in 2012 it was Hamas who came out with deterrence and a victory. Now, they know how that was seen in the Arab world, so they want to hit Gaza again and try scaring everybody else once again so they will make sure there are many more casualties this time. Thanks to Egypt, the resistance can't withstand a long war, and who knows if they are capable this time. It has been one year since the last Israeli offensive and they're already talking about another one soon. Poor people of Gaza can't have a break, pray for my family members there please my friends.

Unfortunately, you're right Yzd

I know :) ...

I don't think the IDF is going to launch a full-scale invasion tbqh.

Any further expansion within the Israeli demographics will be considered as a suicide mission.
