IAF objects to ‘dangerous’ residential project near airbase.

Jodhpur: The Indian Air Force (AIR) has strongly opposed the Jodhpur Development Authority’s decision to allot land near the airport for developing Paradise Villa residential project.

The IAF has described the proposed construction near the funnel area of the airport as dangerous from strategic point of view.

During a meeting of the Jodhpur Development Authority’s lay out plan committee, IAF officials objected to land allotment being made in the funnel area of the airport.

Following the IAF’s opposition the authority has stopped further land allotment. The Jodhpur Development Authority has already allotted 350 plots for Paradise Villa. The plots are just 100 meters from the funnel area of the airport and as per the set rules no construction is permitted on such piece of land.

According to regulations, developers have to obtain a no objection certificate (NOC) from the IAF prior to development of any residential or commercial project near Jodhpur air base. However, the Jodhpur Development Authority and other concerned authorities appear to have overlooked rules and regulations at least in this case.

what have mig 21 to do with the topic . its more of people not building near the base.

Crazy frogs.... What if a fighter plane crash over these "Paradise Villas????"

Then the people living in "Paradise Villas" will discover "Paradise regained"!
In any case which "blooming idiot" living within a kilometers radius of a fighter base will call his house "Paradise Villas"? The noise itself should convince anybody that it is "Paradise lost"!

How about moving air bases out of city limits?

City limits keep expanding. Besides, land acquisition in India is a pain in the A$$.

Keeping defense assets inside city limits will ultimately lead to security risks like what happened in PNS Mehran. There should be atleast 1 km of open space around air bases so that terrorists cannot seek in using residential buildings as cover. Taking this into account along with the high decibel sound that combat jets produce it is in everybody's interest that IAF bases be relocated to rural areas.

Nothing new there. Its happening all over the place. The authorities had to demolish many constructions around the Lohegaon AFB.

it is impossible to relocate these bases as They house extensively developed Infrastructure and highly Advanced technologies. For example Trishul AFB of Barielly has 2 Runways (1 no longer used) and there is talk that another will be soon constructed Also it is an underground air base all hangers are underground and no jets are visible after landing they are taken underground by lifts.
