Assalamu Aliakum/Greetings friends,
As many of you may know by now, I live in the U.S and I'm a Pakistani. I've been living in the U.S for almost 13/14 years now, practically almost all my life. My first 3 to 4 years were in Pakistan. Although I came to the U.S at such a young age (Im 18 now), I have not forgotten my language, and neither have I forgotten my family and home. I make small trips back home once in a while only during summer vacations (And Please TRUST me when I say I have not forgotten my HOME, FAMILY, LANGUAGE, CULTURE etc... The last thing I would want in my life is changing my identity)
During the past 5 to 6 years, I have been becoming more and more homesick, I really badly want to go back to Pakistan and go on with studies over there. (It is not because I have no friends, please do not get me wrong. I have plenty of great friends, Irish, Italian, Greek, and lots of Armenian and Brazillian friends, you name them. I have a great social life as well ). But I don't belong here, there is a saying in pashto; zama ki aw pada ki da zmaki aw da asmaaan parakh de (meaning between me and him, there is land and sky differences) What I'm saying is, there is land and sky difference between me and Americans, I don't share the same language (although yes I can speak English) culture, religion etc... I'm just really homesick right now and would like to be around Pakistanis. But you know how parents are, they want the best education that's available for you. I want to become an Aeronautical Engineer and Pakistan has great colleges/universities for such a field. How can I influence my Parents that I want to go back to Pakistan and I can continue my studies over there. Just How? Someone please spare some time and help me.
