Hyderabad: In a horrific incident, a two-month-old calf of a cow was raped by a worker at a farm in Basheerbagh in the city. A case was registered by the police and the man, Mahesh, was taken into custody.

According to animal rights activist, the assault on the animal was going on for the last four days and was noticed by one of the volunteers who alerted the team. On the tip off, the volunteers of GHSPCA and PFA reached the place on Wednesday night and recorded the sexual assault on the calf.

They informed the Narayanguda police who reached the spot. “The police were initially not ready to believe it. However, when we showed them the recording, they were aghast and reacted immediately,” said the volunteer.

The police along with the volunteers entered into the dairy farm and caught Mahesh. He was taken to the Narayanguda police station while the calf was shifted to the animal shelter of the People For Animals.

A case under Section 377 (whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal) of Indian Penal Code was registered

Doctors are treating the calf at the animal shelter.
