I dont think that will be an excuse. Look at USS Zumalt destroyer. Over pursue of technology and end up with an white elephant. The shape is revolution and very stealthy but compromise on function and combat capabilities. We need to manage carefully between revolution and evolution.

At least they have this kind of ship that they can see what is wrong and improve the next model, what does China have ? We do not need to follow the Qing example.

We have 055 which is a very successful design. USN now abandon USS zumalt and order a new alreigh Burke class destroyer design to pack the same firepower and radar like Chinese 055 destroyer. PLAN are smart not to go USS zumalt route which waste money and achieve nothing. Slowly these 055 will upgraded with railgun and more powerful anti-ship ballistic missile.

You talking as if the current government is that incompetent. Besides the government isn’t stupid like the Qing. Because a Chinese rail gun is in development so China is building its own USS zumalt. 3nm and 5nm must be research only fools say otherwise.

Hope this is the beginning of a new trend. China must not depend on others for its high tech needs. It may take lots of time and investment but they must be done in-house.
