Huawei releases HarmonyOS 2.0 Developer Beta with support for running Android apps-cnTechPost

Huawei released the HarmonyOS 2.0 Developer Beta at its HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile developer beta event today, and launched a call for volunteers to test the software publicly.

HarmonyOS 2.0 is available on the Huawei P40, P40 Pro, Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro, and MatePad Pro, and it supports OTA upgrades and running Android apps.

In a sense, HarmonyOS is just a change in the underlying system, which means that the Android + EMUI used by Huawei phones is now HarmonyOS 2.0 + EMUI.

Huawei said that HarmonyOS is a distributed operating system for the Internet of Everything era, and Huawei hopes to work with partners and developers to create a super terminal experience for the Internet of Everything era.

Wang Chenglu, president of Huawei's consumer business software division, said that HarmonyOS is built for the Internet of Everything, with a better experience and more entrances.

He said, for example, with HarmonyOS, JD.com App can run on TVs, even refrigerators and other devices with screens, which will allow hundreds of millions of devices to become new entrances for users to reach JD.com.

HarmonyOS 2.0 Mobile Developer Beta enhances the following features:
15000+ APIs (support developing mobile / PAD, large screen, wearable, car applications)
Distributed application framework
Distributed UI controls
DevEco Studio 2.0 Beta3
HarmonyOS official website (www.harmonyos.com) has prepared SDK / Documentation / Tools / Simulator for mobile developers Beta version.

. . .

It uses a different system but can install android apps. Sounds like a world beater smartphone OS. It takes the best out of it and combine the best OS fetaures.

I hope harmony OS apps will not allow install into android OS. Haha...
