China central TV for the first time reported about our "indigenous" version of the Tor M1 short range air defence system.
Minor differences are seen in the chassis, and the major difference is the acquition radar, which is the same used by the HQ-7B system. It's not known if the missile's capability has been improved too.
Even though Tor M1 is a Soviet-era SAM system, today it still remains a valid short range defence system, and it's also effective against cruise missiles.
With our indigenous improvements and upgrades, HQ-17 may be comparable to the more modern Tor M2.
Great job!
