How will General Raheel Sharif be viewed after retirement.

sanghi, why Indian army dont forcing us to play in their hand by releasing proofs?
Should I address you as Mr. Taliban? Using rhetoric and adjectives wont make your points any stronger.
Have you ever believed in the evidences provided by India that you are seeking now? If you are denying the incident, will it take anything else to deny the evidences?
What India claims and what you counter claim is enough to analyse the positions of the two. But I admit that Pakistani leadership, political and military, has displayed maturity by not getting provoked. That does not mean Pakistan has ignored this.

There is no doubt that politions especially Noora league is not happy with his popularity and they will try their best to melign his honour.

In Pakistan a General can not be questioned during his tenure. In my personal opinion after the retirement of Gen Sharief three points will decide if he retains the respect he got as serving general.
1. Critical analysis of op Zarb-e-Azb
2. Action he took against India's Surgical Strike
3. In which country his children opt to settle in
This question should have been put on the date of his retirement to get a balanced response. Given current circumstances Gen Sharief is most likely to continue in office.
Zarb e azb has been a successful operation so criticism of that won't make too much of a difference. As far as India's imaginary surgical strike is concerned, it is yet to be proven. International media has been sent to LoC from our side and they have reported there are no signs of a surgical strike. So nothing on that too. Lastly where ever his children opt to settle has nothing to do with his tenure as an army chief. I don't know where you came up with such a random analysis from.

I can see why you would be skeptical and call it an exception rather than the norm. Allow me to highlight army criticism in three different eras with each era having different relations with the political leadership.

The first is musharraf era where the Army as you stated was completely political. In musharrafs era, the concept of a free media and free judiciary gained a lot of ground which started a strong anti musharraf and anti army campaign. When war in FATA began in 2004, the army was criticized and the people's sympathy was with the terrorists and as time passed by, the lal masjid happened. You are right it was against hardliners but at that time, the people saw the army as the aggressor and a monster attacking innocent Islamic people. No operation did more harm to the army's repute than lal masjid and the army was chastised and the leadership of the army criticized. This was just one of the events.

Then comes the non political era of general kiyani. Kiyani was also criticized due to the massive increase of suicide attacks, destruction caused by TTP and various failures at intelligence levels. When mehran base happened, the media analysts and news anchors were spewing criticism of the armed forces and some very harsh things were being said. This is just one of the examples.

Then comes general raheel with slight political era. When Hamid mir was shot, the media GEO went into a hate campaign of unprecedented levels against the army that the people themselves were shocked. They stopped, not bcz of threats, but bcz of the public outrage at that. In his era, few things have gone wrong so can't criticize.

As I stated I can understand your skepticism. 9 years of press freedom as compared to 61 years of not is an imbalance but I can assure you that army now can be criticized and will be criticized if something happens. A few points on corruption within army have also been highlighted especially when the good general tool action against some very high ranking officers against corruption. There were 11 of them if I remember correctly.

However I will also tell you that right now any chasm that existed between the army and the people during Kate days of musharraf is gone. The people adore the armed forces.

We have drifted far off topic. As I stated, its upto you to believe.

I can understand that. :D On another forum, every negative rating I have ever given is due to me using the touch pad in speed when I am on my mobile, I often end up clicking the button unknowingly.

Alls well that ends well.
Nicely summed up. A sustainable image takes time to build up.

You are actually looking at the wrong side --- he did say he will break the nexus between corruption & Terrorism & he did break the nexus ---- he never said he will throw away Politicians to the darkest dungeons ---- but he did throw away the terrorists ---- what was happening in Karachi on extortion was in front of us, and today we stand in place where very rare cases of extortion are reported ----- Tangos were coordinating with local gangs to move their much need Firearms in & out of city, but with Rangers' action, that is gone too

possible Sir, if he sees the incoming General, who would not be able to fill in his boots & a Political Govt so weak at foreign diplomacy , then he will have no other option

Do u remember he kept on saying tht without rooting out corruption, peace cant come... And then he said we will break the nexus... No if u say these things repeatedly, we raise our expectations..tht maybe he will work behind the scenes to make institutions like NAB and FIA more active..he will try to make them independent somehow, by working behind the scenes..also, do u remember, he also said tht army wil support across the board accountability...it came , after the Panama scandal and when Prime Minister was returning, from london i guess?....so again he raised our hopes high tht maybe he will try to do something behind the scenes to ensure accountability in this scandal too... But nothing.. We wouldnt have expected such things from him, had he not given such statements from time to time

Regarding his retirement, i think he should retire gracefully, and as he himself said tht he would retire on time, i think it will damage his credibility much, if he doesnt.. Media anchors will be after him... Also, if we remember Gen Kiyani was also much liked before his extension..his bad days started after he got the extension....

I think, as there was news in media..tht Saudi Arabia has offered him to lead 34 country military alliance... I think he should accept tht, for strategic reasons.. As India has been trying hard to foster deeper and more strategic relations with GCC, it will be very good for Pakistan, if we have our own man right there... It will be a grave mistake, if he doesnt accept tht.. Saudis were disappointed with Pak for not joining the yemen war.. It was a sensible decision..keeping in view our domestic situation... But after tht India has tried much to increase cooperation with GCC.. Esp UAE... We need not let Saudis go in India's lap.. So this is an opportunity tht should not be wasted at any cpst.. Its a win win for Pakistan, without commiting any troops.. Also, he can bargain some monetary benefit for Pakistan.... I was watching Gen Amjad Shoaib also, in a program on tv, he also said tht Gen Raheel should accept tht

Let him retire first. Right now his chances of hanging boots are getting smaller with every passing day. And yes, critical analysis of his tenure will happen only when he retires. There are some very grey areas which were glossed over by media. These will be revisited when he goes home.

Change you nick then, it does not suit sanghis..

Have you ever believed in the evidences provided by India that you are seeking now? If you are denying the incident, will it take anything else to deny the evidences?

evidence and bharat is oxymoron.. your all evidence are like your surgical strike in bollywood..

What India claims and what you counter claim is enough to analyse the positions of the two.

True, gangaland claim a thing, it should provide proofs.. Pakistan have nothing to prove..

. But I admit that Pakistani leadership, political and military, has displayed maturity by not getting provoked. That does not mean Pakistan has ignored this.

why should they be provoked when they know the reality already, we lost 2 soldiers, we will avenge it by killing few of yours on LOC in near future, the real triggered people are sanghi scums sitting in delhi who failed to control the situation in Kashmir, after killing 100 innocent Kashmiris when occupier pigs got taste of their own medicine in Uri they start blaming Pakistan,

Why your faggots sitting in delhi deliberately missing the chance to expose Pakistan with proofs of so called camps with dead militant escorted by Pak Army attacked by Hanuman's vanar sena? it will kill our Kashmir cause, i think its golden chance, present proof against Pakistan in-front of international media like ISPR did few days ago.

President of Pakistan has no legal power nor any support from army or any other institution ... So its better not to accept useless position of president by such a great personaltiy

Please see what I have written : ..."and if such scenario built up he will be a powerful President of Pakistan and not a Mamnoon Hussain kind ! "

There can always be an 8th Amendment or change to a Presidential system instead of Parliamentarian if situation demands so !!!!!
