Now do you guys get it what I said about, "Lungir Gira dise khuila?"

Look at the graphic and let me know.

This is all Hasina's doing. Thanks Hashu-aunty.

In hindsight though, we needed this prescription to halt the rampant looting.

The fact that she can't control something is a concept Hasina is not familiar with.
She will say yes to everything, but what will follow in reality will be interesting to find out !

Hasina is not elected and she wanted/ wants to cling to power. The result is the multiplying of corruption and mismanagement of economy by her tacit approval.

She is not familiar with economics matters and so her people swindled the country and stole money.

In BD even a crow does not fly in the sky without Hasina approval. She has been doing all these things with the knowledge that India is her long term partner to support her every evil deed.

Then came the US sanction. Her position has been shaken to the core unable to use RAB and Police at her whims. This will cause her to accept the abolition of her autocratic power and organize a daytime election.

Countries like India have strategic interests. Those do not change with a change of leadership in Bangladesh. It is in India's strategic interest to have a friendly and prospering Bangladesh. This is the only way that assures India that no wars or economic mass migration do not occur.
So Hasina or no Hasina, India's conduct will remain the same.

I am unclear how any of the items is bad for BD economy. I do not agree with the list of impacts at all.

At least you are progressing under her control. Too many military take overs for too long is a recipe for disaster. Remember Lt. Gen. Muhammad Ershad? When two parties fight military will have an excuse to take over.

Don't interact with him, he's just a bitter old man who wants to see the party he supports in power in Bangladesh no matter the cost to the economy, no matter the bloodshed.

Probably an ex BNP goon who can't visit the country because BAL is in power, he's also an islamophobe..

Shit on AL and shit on BNP. And JP et al

All the political parties are crooks. And military no better.

Only Hasina has done anything in 50 years.

All the political leaders from Mujib and his socialism to Zia/Ershad and their Wahhabism have been a disaster.

It is astonishing to think that only a few months back it took TWO hours to cross the Padma.

IT WAS A JOKE.

Removing Hasina will be an absolute disaster.

SHW won't stand in the upcoming elections, irrespective of party alignment, one must agree BD is about to lose it's greatest politician, one of the very few in this country who have any sort of vision at all.

Quality of politicians and military leaders is piss poor in South Asia.

Hasina is the only leader who focussed on economics without resorting to xenophobia and hatred.

Basically, they are just asking to follow the lessons from any Macro-economic textbook for a market-based economy. that will help remove distortions and rebalance the economy for greater efficiency. For example, reduce import of luxury goods, reduce petroleum consumption, encourage exports,

IMF and World Bank follow the trickle down economics of Friedrich August von Hayek!!

Responsible for destroying Africa with their poison pills.

What BD needs is Keynesian medicine.

Well every one of us in Bangladesh have our own opinions on the efficacy of Hasina as a leader in our country. It is fine to have them how you can justify it. I am not a Hasina fan but - I can understand who are. We have to respect all opinions - to each his own.

In most countries - the private sector develops the economy assisted by infra built by the govt. and the head of the govt. takes ALL credit for development.

In Hasina's case I'd argue that she built infra more from a need to "feed" graft to her underlings from these overpriced projects (sometimes 300-500% above anything directly comparable in nearby India, and this is very well documented), rather than any altruistic desire to "develop" Bangladesh. It is a good thing that the underlings were satisfied and that the infra also came (or will come) into some good usage.

However there are projects galore which were built in the hundreds of million dollars in desolate areas which will never get a financial return in use. These projects were only built to get votes.

So "progressing under her control" is a bit of a stretch, to say.

One has to admit that the control part has been almost like a police state, unlike your own country, which is a free democracy, at least in name.

The chance of a military takeover in Bangladesh is fairly remote nowadays. The polity has come of age.

What is Bangladesh's inflation rate? It was 9% p.a. in October 2022. No need for Keynes when natural expansion is already so high. Anymore and Bangladesh will become Pakistan. Poor people lose more during high inflation.

The Indian government has a nasty agenda whereby India uses its superior power to influence the election and foreign policy of BD. India should know it cannot continue forever.

India should be neutral to all political parties so that all trust it and forge a working relationship. Indian policy is single-tracked, but even BAL people do not support Indian interference, and this time India cannot influence the election because there will be no more midnight elections.
