Agreed. I don't think Pakistan should even give a inch on Kashmir. But lots of countries have terriotorial disputes but they trade with each other. Argentina has dispute with UK over Falklands and has even fought a war but it trades with UK. Trade does not mean you give up on your national interest. Also both countries are in stalemate over Kashmir. 70 years of hostilities have achieved nothing but death on both sides. Now we have nukes in place and chance of forced withdrawing of borders is zero. Why substitute.
India is a massive market why cant Pakistan explore that. Its our shortsightedness that despite two giant neighbours of 1.4 billion on each side Pakistan finds no export markets. Shameful!!
Therefore why not trade and find common areas of cooperation to build up confidence and goodwill. This soft power can be used more effectively to try and resolve the dispute then nukes.
It is also time to move away from the Muslim/Hindu dichotomy. Fact is Pakistan did nothing to improve the position of South Asian Muslims. Nothing. In fact it can be argued that it had the reverse effect. There are nearly as many Muslims in India as Pakistan.
The irony here is it was Indian Muslims who were potential victims as they lived in Hindu majority states or provinces. How did Pakistan help them? India has struggled to tame few million Kashmiris. So how would it have tamed Khyber Pakhtunkwa or Punjab or Balochistan? The fact is the Muslims of the Indus region would always have pushed asides any notion of Hindu Raj. It took entire divisions of Pak Army and 6 years of war to pacify FATA. Imagine India trying to impose Hindu Raj over 200 million Muslims of the Indus region who would have had substantial majority over Hindus.
We all know what happened to Hindu Pandits from Kashmir. The fact is Pakistan did nothing to improve the position of Indian Muslims either way. My point is it's time to move away from politics of religion and just focus on economy.
