I was reading in another thread that most of the Pakistani media is focused on the negative. At the same time, we see in social media many people trying to spread positive news. I thought, why not utilise all the talent we have making online content and put it in a TV channel.

It could start off exclusively online. We have FB pages like ProPakistani spreading positive news, why not make a daily news broadcast for youtube? It could start off just reading off and discussing news already in the media. Then with community sourced funding pay media students etc money to find positive local stories and work as free lance journalists. Has anyone seen "The Young Turks"?

Once this becomes popular, it could pitch to businessmen or a consortium of businessmen to fund a TV channel. This channel could have loads of online content and could share the ad revenue with the producers.

I'm sure you guys have seen lots of interesting content online but in recent times on youtube i've enjoyed;

- Teeli
- Ali Gul Pir and his friend Mooro (who's a bit annoying)
- Azad Chaiwalla
- Sharum ki sketchbook
- Street food PK
- Tifo Football
- Brown Girls problems
- Raheem Pardesi
- KJ Vids
- loads of travel bloggers

There are hundreds more out there and the opportunity for so so much more fresh and creative content to hit Pakistani screens. Obviously not all this is of high production quality but that could be tweaked. Why stick with the same old faces. Community content, community funded, both online and on the screen.

@Enigma SIG What do you think?

I usually think along the lines of news aggregator, but with a dedicated editorial board that portrays a positive image of the country. Sections could be divided into Education / Tourism / Tech / Shopping / Business etc.

Pakistan lacks a coherent media strategy. Russia was missing that but with the advent of Sputnik and RT; they're ploughing money into it so that their voices don't drown in western propaganda. Admittedly we don't have the funds for that endeavor, but budding journalists who recently graduated and put the country first could be given an opportunity online. A crowd-funded model could get the site up and running in no time and could be further monetised down the road when enough readership views are recorded.

.
Limit the total number of News channels in the country to Around 5, Instead of 60. I mean 80 percent of channels on cable n Pakistan now are all news channels or related.

.
Don't invite Patwaris and members of other corrupt parties in your programs and channel would automatically become positive

In the background of pdf @gaphican (mostly) and I (occasionally) are developing a whole new concept along the same lines, if you truly have a passion and propensity towards development let us know, we ll discuss and invite you to contribute, of course the logistics/mode will take some time to setup.

Basically. Pitch only positive news to paint a one sided manipulative picture.

What you're referring to is already done by a guy called Haqeeqat TV, he lies, paints positive picture, and commits to what viewers want, you name it.

Fake moon landing, vaccines are bad, ISI did this and that, media is being run by Israel, Army plans something big, Kashmir, Imran Khan has put positive direction, blah blah.

Fools millions! But hey, atleast he gets to make a shit ton of money so you got that going, lmao.

Negativity sells mate.
You either are focussed on finding boogie men in your own society like Pakistani media, or you focus on boogie men in other countries like indians always talking about Pakistan.
You want to stop negative media.
Force them to discuss issues and then explore ways to fix them instead of just selling those issues to the common public for consumption.

You are trapped inside your own little bubble. When did i say positive ONLY? All the discourse has been about creative fresh content. None of the examples of content i mentioned are political or military related. I would want a positive focus, but not like PTV of old.

Why should we stop them? Open up a channel to serve the market they're not serving. Our entertainment channels are dross, our news media is biased and over-hyped, let them do what they want, instead offer a fresh, risky and more professional alternative. Start online and then once established go onto TV.

These youtube content creators have huge fan bases already. Raheem Pardesi has over 2 million subscribers. Village Street food 1.5 million. Mark Wiens has 5 million. These are 1 man bands. Imagine what they could do with some money behind them.

Yeah totally. We should focus on how NS wanted to take us to the far side of the observable universe but IK sabotaged all that and we're left with no engine parts to take off from this wretched hell hole he made where he can't even get good medical treatment for his innumerable diseases.

“The media is more unrestrained now than ever,” says Najam Sethi, a columnist and the editor of the Friday Times in Lahore. “We can get away with murder.”

Although I agree with what you stated about Haqeeqat TV. The rest I don't, its all about belief. You belief the moon landing wasn't fake, some believe it was fake. Try to go through those old moon landing videos again. Go through the whole development of technology from that era to now. And suddenly we have problems reaching the moon?

Merge this theory with the flat earthers and then majority would call it a conspiracy theory and wont believe it. Thats how things roll now, join a legitimate question with an absurdly preposterous theory and it turns from a legitimate question to a conspiracy theory.

e.g;

If it wasn't stated and to an untrained this would have been a legit video from Boston Dynamics.

For me faking a moon landing in that era would have been much easier than going to the moon touching it, jumping on it and making a video of it. Where as now with the technology we have shouldn't it be ezpz?

and yes there was a race and political/military reason behind that in that era. So does everything else in history of America, you can believe of Osama getting killed and buried in Ocean with out any proof, you can believe of Iraq having WMD's and invasion of Iraq for a good cause, you can believe of recent Al-Baghdadi getting killed. And you can also believe in the next new demon "Al-Murghabi". In the end its all about belief.

Here's a suggestion to make a Positive TV Channel:
Don't make it a News Channel.

We might be the only country with such a large population with no focus on Sports Channels.
That's what people watch Sports and Entertainment. News are just a very small part of every country's over all TV business.

But everyone in Pakistan want's to make a News Channel, first I didn't understand but then, last year when they revealed how much Government was paying these worthless Channels, then it all started to make sense and now that Government has stopped paying them their whole hollow Business Model has been exposed and they are crying and screaming.

So all in all we don't need more News Channels. We need many, many, more of Sports Channels and Entertainment.
Enough of News already.

We don't have an active sports industry. What would we be writing about? YE DEKHAIN YE PITCH SAAL SE KHALI PARI HAI IS PAR AJ TK KISI NE GAAIND NAI MARI!. The reporter would be screaming at the top of his friggin lungs all the while giving me a brain tumor.

You'd be aggregating international sports news at best.

That's what people think but once it starts their will loads of things to show.
Why does an Indian company have a sports channel in Pakistan (Ten Sports) because they make money of it.
You don't have to just show Pakistani sports. Sky and BT Sports don't just show sports played in UK. They show sports from around the world.
Same thing with India they've loads of Sports Channels, once sportsmen know they'll get coverage their'll be plenty of things to cover. They even cover a local off road event of Bikes on Sky Sports but no one covers Cholistan Rally in Pakistan that's one of the biggest rally in the world and this is just one example.

Good shout. In the UK channel 4 used to show kabbadi on TV! We have world class wrestlers who we only hear about in news columns. I remember years ago Geo did a short bit with boxing. Sports shows would be good content.
