A university can only be as good as the underlying character of its student intake. Given the state of primary and secondary education, universities in Pakistan will go nowhere fast. Being creative and inquisitive on a foundation born of rigid medieval dogma is a recipe for persistent failure.

Extremely confusing to say the least. Education is a provincial subject. We therefore have 4 or 5 different education ministers following the provincial education policies. Then we have the federal board. The Army Public School System follows another protocol. The madrassas have their own unique system of mainly producing religious scholars. Then we have the Oxford and Cambridge Schools, being followed in the private schools. To top it all we have the Urdru language/medium schools and the English lsnguage/medium schools. Thus the education and the students suffer a great deal

Computer Science is the only subject that carries this university. Despite all of its flaws, they are performing quite well in computer science as compared to other Pakistani universities.

Ha poor education system in the US? what sets the US educational system apart is its ability to train students to think for themselves and to come up with out of the box innovative solutions. Take out all the idiot underperforming black/hispanic students and the US educational system is top notch producing innovative CEO's who found companies that you cannot even live without.

It is easy to memorize a book and pass an exam. Innovation is beyond book smarts which is prevelent in Asian countries today.

Capable? Certainly. Creative? Not likely. There is a difference.



An important thing to note.

Algorithm development is creative so I disagree.

One could say the same about math or nuclear medicine if it is all about “here is how to solve this problem” versus “Solve this new problem based on what you have learnt on solving other problems that may or may not be similar”

Technically even music is existing permutations and combinations of notes.

We produced 1 man who can truly be seen as a Leader post Mohammad Ali Jinnah and even he came from a unconventional sporting background where he learned most of his discipline from Sports

2 Lakh Rupee University or University with 100 Million , things can't move forward with what organizational structure we have in place

If the ideal is to produce zombies who take the degree and migrate overseas or other zombies who call themselves neutral then that idea of University itself is flawed

Universities are meant to create Leaders , and not Zombies , in Pakistan , leaders are born into families , Governance by virtue of birth. If the leaders are born in "families" of certain name then it is already decided , who gets to be a leader , we don't need Universities


When you have the right man as a Leader you don't need 100 Million you can create a Generation full of Leaders simply by enabling that 1 man to build policies for your Nation

With due respect, FAST is a class-1 bullshit university. I say this with computer systems experience and a MS degree. FAST graduates carry a cheap copy of ego like LUMS graduates. People be a web designer and pretend like bjarne stroustrup.

Unfortunately no Pakistani university qualifies as a proper teaching and research institute in generally, and in CS especifically.

Can you please help me learn of new algorithms developed in Pakistani universities, including the one above, considering how computer science is generally taught there? Thanks.
