by India i mean a Civilization. or land of Indo Aryans and Dravidians.
In my conversation with many Pakistanis on online forums, I have often seen them identifying with invaders like Babur and Ghauri and Mughals.

My question is:

What do Pakistani's think of ancient Indian kings and kingdoms like Ashoka the great (Mauryas), Chandragupta, Gupta empie etc.,

who ruled what is today called modern Pakistan? do you guys consider them invaders ?

for Example.

Maurya empire

Your are going way to back, such ancient history is niether taught nor will i recommend at school level. Many Pakistanis will only know about a person name ashoka from sharukh khan movie

Vikramaditya is my laptop password. lol. But he was not a real king of course only a legend. Historically literate Pakistanis hold them in esteem as ancient kings of this land. But the esteem for kings of the past has never been great regardless of their geographical affiliation. Philosophers and polymaths are better respected. And about those Pakistanis you have been talking to, its best to ignore that illiterate lot. Even we dont take them seriously.

btw,

Vikramaditya was used as label or name for Chandragupta 2 of Gupta empire.

His gold coin.

aryans were not invaders
the "real indians" are everyone who came to India and made it their home. else everyone is an african - isnt it?

IMHO the point of the OP was that "history of pakistan" usually begins with Mohd. Bin Qasim and before that its all "buddhist kings" with almost no reference to Hindu legacy of Pakistan. The OP probably wants to know if the hindu legacy is ignored/abhorred or simply abandoned

. .
They were ancients kings, thats it.. They killed people like all other kings whether Muslim, Christian or Hindus. Build few majestic buildings and then died..

They were invaders, they were not local,

Raja Porus was local who fought against Alexander..

Anything hindu is ignored/abhorred or simply abandoned

We dont identify with any hindu kings and their history is not taught

Many pakistanis view pre islamic india as full of jahilat

There are no evidence to suggest that Sri Lanka was a tributary state of Maurya Empire.

And still want to lay claim to pre islamic civilization ? how do you guys reconcile to this oxymoronic intellectualism?

That's what I was referring to. Muslims made India their home like everyone else before them.
