NEW DELHI: China is trying to show solidarity with Bangladesh but almost five decades back when East Pakistan became a new nation Beijing egged by its ally Pakistan played hardball in granting UN membership to Bangladesh.

On 17 September 1974, Bangladesh became a full member of the United Nations as China used veto between 1972-74 to prevent membership. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, whose birth centenary falls this year, gave a speech in Bengali language at the General Assembly on September 24, 1974.

“Speaking for China, Huang Hua, her chief representative at the United Nations, said that “Soviet socialist imperialism” was playing a “most insidious role in South Asia” and that India, in concluding “an aggressive military alliance” with the Soviet Union, had “stripped off its own cloak of nonalliance,” according to a New York Times report dated August 25, 1972.

In reply Viktor L. Issraelyan, the Soviet representative, said that “the representative of China sees the hand of Moscow everywhere—this despite the fact that the resolution received 11 favorable votes,” according to NYT report. “I might add that the representative of China was not original,” Mr. Issraelyan said. “In fact, he is repeating the approach by the late John Foster Dulles, who also saw Soviet influence everywhere.”

“In voting against the admission of Bangladesh, which was East Pakistan before winning independence last December with the support of India, China charged that Bangladesh stood in violation of two United Nations resolutions—one passed in the General Assembly and the other in the Security Council,” according to NYT report.

In 1972 then acting Prime Minister of Bangladesh Syed Nazrul Islam appealed to the People's Republic of China not to stand in the way of the rightful admission of Bangladesh into the UN, according to media reports.

Islam had said that 85 countries of the world had already recognised Bangladesh. China had herself suffered in the past due to the obstructionist policy of various imperialist powers, he added. The acting prime minister earnestly hoped that Chinese leaders would appreciate Bangladesh's struggle for freedom and accept the reality.

Today Bangladesh sends one of the largest contingent force to the United Nations and in December 2017 it had 7246 personal deployed in peacekeeping operations. Bangladesh peacekeepers have been deployed in a number of countries such as east Timor, Lebanon, South Sudan, Namibia, Haiti, Liberia, etc.

.
So what ?

This is international geopolitics, you do what you think is beneficial for your country and they did what they had to do.

China is now Bangladesh's biggest development partner aside from Japan, they are doing more to help Bangladesh grow than whichever country it is that the author of this article comes from.

.
India will release more such propaganda videos, so as to create rift between BD and China. India has been doing same between Pakistan and Bangladesh too for many years.

But how long can India fool people??? They have done that for last 50 years, not any more.

. . .
Who cares, China isn’t a peasant country of the 70s anymore. Their financial interest aligns with us and so we do business

for residence "Joy Bangla" (read Awmi league) propaganda boom boxes in this forum.....This same Dipanjan Roy Chowdhury, who wrote the Op article known to produce fake and fabricated story working for indian intel RAW.

Bangladeshi government misled by Khaleej Times on ISI boss testimony

Bangladeshi government has been visibly misled by a fabricated report of New Delhi based journalist Dipanjan Roy Chowdhury, who twisted a recent statement of ex-ISI [Inter Service Intelligence] chief Asad Durrani’s testimony before Pakistan’s Supreme Court, where he admitted to funding a number of Pakistani politicians and political parties, while there is no such existence of funding Bangladesh Nationalist Party [BNP], though this was openly accused by Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina stating the main opposition BNP received fifty million Pakistan rupees from ISI prior to general election in 1991.

It was later learnt that Dipanjan Roy Chowdhury was summoned by some top brasses of Research and Analytical Wing [RAW] on March 2, 2012 and was escorted to New Delhi headquarters of the Indian spy agency, wherefrom he wrote the report for Khaleej Times and it was later sent to the Indian-born owners of the Dubai based newspaper with the special instruction of publishing it prominently. Subsequently, when the fabricated and twisted news appeared in Khaleej Times, some influential members of the Indian government phoned editors of two of the leading daily newspapers in Dhaka, suggesting them to give “best treatment” to the Khaleej Times news. It may also be mentioned here that, vernacular daily Prothom Alo, which was frantically trying to send both Sheikh Hasina [chief of Bangladesh Awami League] and Khaleda Zia [chief of Bangladesh Nationalist Party] into exile following the installation of military backed authoritarian regime in 2007, is accused of playing “foul game” in destabilizing democratic institutions in the country. The editor of the newspaper, who was earlier a veteran ‘comrade’ of the Communist Party, is also named of being affiliated with Islamist militancy group in Bangladesh.

Most importantly, vernacular daily in Bangladesh, Prothom Alo in their news on the ISI funding issue false mentioned that the news item has been published in Pakistani newspaper The News as well as leading business daily The Business Recorder. Such twisting of information was done by Dipanjan Roy Chowdhury and the controversial editor of the Bangladeshi newspaper.

Indian media now turned into a constant crying b!tch! Considering that, China was the strategic ally of Pakistan and Indo-Soviet backing of our independence, it was very normal for China to take times to recognize Bangladesh. But once relation established, Sino-Bangladesh co-operation blossomed very quickly. No Bangladeshi care about that chapter of history which is was closed 45 years ago. It seems, if Bharati media need to poison British and American relation, they will remind the Americans the war of 1812 when British troops set fire on White House! Or even better, to poison relation between Iran and Greece, they will publish story about how Persians sacked Athens 2500 years ago!!

Lol . It looks that Indian media became mad dog just because of a phone call. Where are the super power PDF sanghis ? Will their sanghi Media literally pee on pant if Bangladesh and Pakistan come close again with the help of china ? China is in the leading position , and then circled by china , Pakistan , Bangladesh , Nepal , Bhutan lol .

Apart from writing such garbage kick Modi out , many problems will be solved automatically !
