Man Allegedly Posed As Army Soldier For 8 Months | The Daily Caller

A homeless man in North Carolina allegedly posed as an Army soldier and lived in a special forces barracks at Fort Bragg for eight months before being caught, according to a popular military Facebook page.

The incident was first reported on the Facebook page U.S. Army W.T.F! Moments in a detailed post. The Fayetteville Observer has confirmed the hidden civilian’s discovery, but otherwise military officials have yet to confirm or deny the report.

For the last 8 months, a civilian with a fake [common access] card has been living in the [Special Forces Group] temp barracks claiming to be an [explosive ordinance disposal] tech,” the post says. “So embedded he was, that he had been dropping new privates off at in-processing.”

The fake soldier (whose name remains unknown) was apparently a popular man around the base. “[He] was instantly a friend to everyone,” was skilled at dominoes, and he “knew all the cool places in Fayetteville,” the post notes. It’s unclear whether other special forces members were aware the man was a fraud.

The man was caught driving under the influence Tuesday, and his story began to fall apart. Military police searched his room, reportedly discovering stolen army equipment (including rifle ammunition and a uniform), along with “a large cache of DVD ****.” The man even reportedly had a roster full of soldiers’ personal information.

Upon discovering the interloper, commanders at Fort Bragg were displeased, and allegedly responded by conducting an extremely thorough search of the special forces barracks, but only after giving soldiers a few hours to jettison any illegal materials of their own.

“Now one might think that a revelation like this would result in a massive draconian response right?” the Facebook post says. “Nope the Silent Professionals are going to silently do nothing until the following morning before conducting a 100% Health and Welfare inspection. The first one in 5 years, or so we’ve been told. But with an 8 hour delay, the rest of the illegals will have ample time to move their belongings out.”

Jack Murphy, a former special forces member and writer for the special forces-focused website SOFREP.com, had a light-hearted take on the matter.

“The story is pure awesome,” he told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “It is a case of almost valor, can’t even be mad at the dude. He was a good troop by all accounts.

HE lived in a special forces barracks and fooled them for 8 months ? Either this is some undercover dude who got caught or he should be given a job of an undercover agent

:) even they have black holes in their system..8 months man!

. . .
Used their lodgings and ate their food for sometime. No big deal. In military its a very spartan living anyway.

.
And they blame we were hiding OBL. At least he was living in a private home (according to their version of story).
The neighbours though have totally different story to tell.

The Daily Caller? Right. :D

This is the complete FB post:

With breaking news, we go live to José who is at the center of the universe.

Si, this is José. There is a great disturbance in the Force, where the Rebel Alliance has successfully infiltrated the Empire of 3rd Special Forces Group. For the last 8 months, a civilian with a fake CAC card has been living in the SFG temp barracks claiming to be an EOD tech. So embedded he was, that he had been dropping new privates off at in-processing.

Everybody in the barracks knew who he was, he got rides from people, and was pretty good at dominos. Since his “classified” school was so long he knew all the cool places in Fayetteville and was instantly a friend to everyone. His undoing was that he got arrested for a DUI and then his story that he was a U.S. Army Special Operations Command EOD guy started to unravel.

For starters, he didn’t look like the person on the CAC he was carrying around, the 1SG had no idea who this guy was when the MPs called. Once Fort Bragg, N.C. MPs began to process his room, that’s when more disturbing evidence was discovered. A 300 Win mag (with rounds) was found – they are still looking for the rifle, stolen TA-50 and uniforms were scattered across the room. Alert rosters from different battalions with individual’s names and numbers and a large cache of DVD ****….I thought only refugees used DVDs anymore. Rampant prostitutes, girlfriends living there, if you can dream it you can do it is the unofficial motto for the 3rd Special Forces Group-Airborne temp barracks.

Now one might think that a revelation like this would result in a massive draconian response right? Nope the Silent Professionals are going to silently do nothing until the following morning before conducting a 100% Health and Welfare inspection. The first one in 5 years, or so we’ve been told. But with an 8 hour delay, the rest of the illegals will have ample time to move their belongings out. Now you are probably thinking, like I was, how could something like this happen? Where is the accountability? What about OPSEC? Anybody doing that whole Force Protection thingy?? Well I went and talked to a few senior NCOs to get a better understanding of how something like this could happen. The two senior NCOs, who requested anonymity (usawtfm – what this word mean? This like crossing the border successfully?) and they said that the high lords of Group Command don’t want to sully themselves dealing with peasants and since nobody has ever “officially” died they don’t have to address whatever issues arise.

Call me loco, but I think once CID, Counter-Intel, FBI, Homeland Security start asking questions…..me thinks your tamale is burnt.
We will continue to monitor this situation as the security violations spiral out of control.

This is José reporting for USAWTFM live.from the Center of the Universe. — in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Hi,

Or maybe he should train them to live under the shadows---.
it is really surprising that despite all these biometrics and stuff, he managed to live for 8 months and eat with them and sleep with them....wow :)

And they blame we were hiding OBL. At least he was living in a private home (according to their version of story).
The neighbours though have totally different story to tell.
What is the neighbors version of the story?

Once you get into the camp and dont raise any suspicion by acting weirdly you can get away with it. Fact is when ppl come different background, different groups and mix together hardly any questions will raised. If he had asked any confidential data then that would have given him away. But dining, sleeping and other day to day activities will hardly give you away.

But still 8 months is too long time to stay like that. well can send him on a spy mission.:D

Our incapable prime minster who reads from from a cheat sheet, should be given a new cheat sheet with this incident mentioned for his next travel to USA.
