The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday warned Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin that he would meet the same end as Burhan Wani if he tries to spread violence in Kashmir.
“Any kind of threat suggesting that they will turn Kashmir into a graveyard, they better be aware because the repercussions could be that of what happened to Wani,” BJP spokesperson Shaina NC told ANI.She added that the Hizbul Mujahideen needs to realise that the Central Government is not incompetent and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the political will and conviction to take on separatists.
“The Hizbul Mujahideen, as an organisation, and Salahuddin need to realise that this is not an incompetent government that is in power at the Centre in New Delhi. Our Prime Minister has the political will and conviction to take on separatists,” she said.
Salahuddin had said he will turn entire Kashmir into a “graveyard” for the Indian armed forces.
In an interview with a leading English daily, Salahuddin, disregarding the all-party meet, said talks would be futile and the only answer to the issue of Kashmir was militancy.
While the all-party meet is an attempt to assuage the situation in the Valley, Salahuddin has warned of his “might”, threatening to “take the entire region into [militancy’s] fold”.
He also said that the militancy movement took a sharp turn after the Hizbul militant Burhan Wani was killed on July 8, the daily reported.
Calling the Valley a concentration camp, he said use of more force by the army will only strengthen the militancy movement.
Kashmir has been on the boil since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8 with curfew continuing in parts of the valley for the 58th day today.
