Hinopak is planning to export buses and trucks to the Middle East and Africa to help reduce the country’s trade deficit, said the company’s CEO, Hideya Lijima. The company has a 65 per cent share in truck and bus manufacturing in Pakistan.

Hinopak is planning to take annual exports to 400 buses, earning $30 million per year for the country, said Deputy General Manager Hinopak, Ahmed Rauf. He added that production of 25 buses for export cost Rs160 million.

They were speaking at a ceremony organised to celebrate the first batch of exports on Tuesday.

Hinopak, established in 1986, will ship 25 buses this month to Emirates Transport for school and staff segments.

Lijima mentioned that the buses were designed taking the UAE and its geography, climate and economy into consideration. “Export of buses and trucks from Pakistan to the Middle East and Africa will help reduce trade imbalance,” he said.

“The company is striving to continuously tap prospective markets of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, Bahrain, UAE, Jordan, Panama, Mozambique and Costa Rica,” said the company’s Director Sales and Marketing, Muhammad Irfan Sheikh.

“Japanese experts inspect the buses before they are exported. Maintaining standards of quality is always our first priority,” Sheikh added.

Sheikh said that export of vehicles will have a good impact on Pakistan’s automobile industry. Besides, the increase in the company’s production capacity will help improve local worker expertise and experience.

“Hinopak Motors has the government’s full support in its endeavour to increase the export capacity,” said Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Mohibullah Shah.

“I would like to see exports from present 25 units to 25,000 units in coming years,” he added. “It is an honour for Pakistan and Hinopak to export high performance buses to the competitive market of Middle East,” said Shah.

Shah reminded everyone that Pakistan has achieved the highest-ever exports in financial year 2009-10, despite difficult financial conditions in and around the world. He added that Hinopak’s achievement was commendable.

I wish we had more people like "Hideya Lijima", who stressed the importance of reducing trade deficit, thus putting the country's priority first, compared to useless politicians out there who has fake degrees and corrupt mind!

Good to see positive movement but are the engines , transmissions , the brakes and other parts made in pakistan if not then its just a decoy or they all imported in from outside and simply assembled

Real Automotive industry is you build every thing from scratch

With out development of these key assets in country ... the profits will always be limited

But never the less Hino Pak should be commnded for profits and paying taxes to gov of Pakistan on their profits

.

Pakistan should get rid of all colorful buses and trucks. I think Karachi should ban animal carts, rickshaws and these colorful buses and trucks. They can be operated in small towns but major cities should not have these eyesores.

Karachi&

. . .
I love the colorful buses but they have power horn , and they yeild pure black smoke from their engines

a) Noise Pollution
b) Smog pollution

Also the drivers don't stop and go properly bus is always moving

a) I suggest gov should put in laws to ban buses over 10 years old
b) Introduce , permits for Buses

Hino Pak's biggest customer should be local cities in Pakistan 10,000 buses etc if the gov launches initiatives to remove all old buses with new ones

Simiarly - the rikshaw drivers should have been given grants to purchase Adam Motors as replacements for Rickshaws

India has their own automotive industry and engineering they don't let other countries to dominate local market and it shows why they have $$$$ in private sector

.
^ rightly said expect defence in all sector Indian companies like tata and reliance grown overseas rapidly.

AZADPAKISTAN2009...
Pakistan govt should first introduce new buses invite these private companies to invest in new better improved buses for the public use atleast 2000 buses country wide to throw those old junks and increase. It don't matter if private companies operate it, only these buses should be maintained and be clean not those paintings and what not we see in Pakistan. some new system should be introduced like bus card system.
Govt has ways, they can implement laws to move into future and give a time table for bus owners and pvt companies to upgrade to new ones.

.
Good to know but number of buses exported is very low. It should be atleast 3-4k buses per yer.

.
400 bus per year or per month. sorry if it's only 400 per year than it's not a good record...

.
what is the approximate price of each bus?
