sikhs keeping long hair is not gender specific.....all men & women keep long hair...but burka is gender specific..why discriminate against women??..if u wnt burka to b there,,allow it not to b gender specific...we can allow it if men also start wearing it...but these ancient discrimination in genders is a big no for educational institutions... u can wear burka at your home or choose it as a option in lyf...but u can fuk up with uniform code..thats why its called unform

My office despite being in a Muslim country, doesn't spare anyone who finds it difficult to stick to the dress code. Men are clean shaven and women wear formal suits like everyone else (atleast in my department).
Anyways, I do not associate Indian Muslim women with Burqa.

There was a drawing competition I attended in KU for school (girls) kids. The topic was Kashmiri Women and Kashmiri dress.

Almost all drew them in burqas. I did not see almost any (out of 120) with the traditional Kashmiri dresses. The guys with pheran, the girls with burqa or hijab!
