The Nanjing-Hangzhou and Hangzhou-Ningbo high-speed railway lines had integration testing on Mar 28, with a top speed of 389 km per hour recorded, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The two lines, which span about 398 km in Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, were the first two high-speed railway lines tested after China Railway Corp was established on March 17 to take over the commercial functions of the former Ministry of Railways.
They are the ninth and 10th high-speed railway lines in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The travel time from Nanjing to Hangzhou will be shortened to about an hour. Passengers traveling from Nanjing to Hangzhou will not need to travel to Shanghai first, and the trip will cost less. The travel time from Hangzhou to Ningbo will be shortened from two hours to less than 40 minutes.
