(CNN) -- The leader of the Shia militant movement Hezbollah in Lebanon said his group is responsible for launching a drone into Israel last week, and Iranians made the drone.
Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said on the movement's television channel that the drone flew over "sensitive sites" in Israel.
"This drone is not Russian made, this drone was an Iranian made," he said. The drone "was assembled by the specialized Hezbollah team. The Lebanese should be proud of that."
Israel eyes Lebanon after drone downed
The Israeli air force shot down the unmanned device Saturday over the northern Negev desert, the Israeli Defense Forces said.
The drone, which was hovering over Gaza and had entered Israeli airspace, wasn't carrying weapons or explosives, military spokeswoman Avital Leibovich said.
Nasrallah boasted that it wasn't the first time Hezbollah has sent aerial drones over Israel. He said the group can do it "whenever we want" inside "occupied Palestine."
"This mission was not the first one," he said, "and will not be the last one, God willing."
Asked about Nasrallah's speech and his bold statement, a senior Israeli official who did not have permission to speak publicly on the subject said: "His statement is not worth commenting on."
Hezbollah has been flying drones over Israel for years, said Micah Zenko of the Council on Foreign Relations, who specializes in drone technology proliferation and the Middle East.
"That it happened again is absolutely insignificant," he said.
He described Nasrallah's comments as blustering and largely empty.
"Israel usually tracks these drones as they come across the border and often doesn't bother to shoot them down," Zenko said. "They just want to see what Hezbollah thinks it can do."
Drones like the one shot down on Saturday cannot even be piloted until someone has "line control" of the device, or is at least within 50 kilometers of it, he said.
"To call them rinky-dink would be polite," he said. "The drones that Iranians display at airshows or that they tout for sale, defense industry press people describe them as crude."
These drones don't have "hard points," or brackets, on which ammunition can be fixed, Zenko said, but they do have the ability to conduct surveillance. It's unclear if the Iranians have drones that can do surveillance in real time, he added.
Nasrallah said the goal of the drone was to "show ... capabilities or some of them at the right time, and send the messages at the right time."
Opinion: U.S. drone monopoly gone

Opinion: U.S. drone monopoly gone
The U.S. never had a monopoly in the first place. Russia, Israel, India, Pakistan, China, Iran etc, have all been operating recce drones for years. Of course, combat drones are a different issue altogether where the U.S and Israel have the monopoly. But not for long.

I want to see what kind of drone it was ?

Why only Pak is not been able to down the drone ? Haaaahhh ...

Its not the drone..... Its who is flying the drone.....

Pakistan shot down drone years before US started drone operations inside Pakistan..... Shooting down drone is not a problem...shooting down a US drone is.

What is the differences ? If one time you do it then they will never ever dare to do the same ... and I think Pakistan as a great and proud nation is capable to do so.

its not about whose drone it is , its about who is in the position on your side to make a decision to do so. Pakistan ruling class is in bed with USA that is why they cant do it. Pakistan need pro Pakistani gov only to act on this issue. and US cant do much against it. in case they send any fighters, they will loose the supporting lines in Pakistan and make us THE enemy....

I take such Pompous Comments with Pinch of Salt. GPRB Deployed in Nazareth covers entire North and East.Forget a UAV an RPG can be intercepted

. .
the UAV came from Sinai peninsula (egypt) not from lebanon, there is an iranian spy network in sinai went very active during the uprising in egypt due to the lacking of order in egypt, now the egyption president is using egyption military to clean sinai from these groups in preperation for an attack against iran.

Wow,just wow.You guys are brainwashed in a way that it will pass in to your grandsons too.I pity you.

Mosamania, once again I laugh hard when you always call us the brainwashed ones.
At least, when you look in to Iranians on this site, there are some opposition voices among them. But about Saudis, almost all of them repeat the same lies like parrot.

I believe the honor goes fully to Iranians in the brainwashed section, there are constant fights between Saudi members in the Arabic discussion too you know.

I do not disagree that there is a certain degree of propaganda from both sides but the crown goes to Iranian regime in regards to propaganda and brainwashing with flying colors. The only one who are repeating lies like parrots are Iranians here.

At least we've got balls to do something and we are capable to have our own weaponry not like someone whom are happy with the other's toys.

I consider it nothing more than despicable attempt to draw the region's attention from the slaughtering of the syrian people.

anyway Iran is so desperate politically and strategically after the miserable lose and humiliation in the battle of Alsham (syria).

Iran fooling no one but itself and its people. IF you have the guts as you say you would launch your useless toys from Iran not somewhere els.

Hizboallat and Iran are trying to drag Lebanon into war to ease pressure on Assad.

Assad on the other hand is trying to drag turkey into war. The main goal is to crackdown the syrian revolution by all means however, they fail all the time.

There are serious social and economic issues in Iran need to be dealt with so, mine you own business out of the arab world.

well since the day of Mohajer Our drones had the range to fly Lebanon around the Israel and enter Egypt then then turn around and enter Israel so here the range is not a thing to tell us were was the Origin of the Drones only Radar data in those regions can give us a definite answer . and honesty I Believe east Mediterranean sea have one of the must dense radar coverage around the world If unbelievable of some body didn't have all the data to precisely locate the where the launched the drone .
