Hero TV, the sister project of Express Media Group, has decided to drop controversial Pakistani actress Veena Malik from its Ramadan’s transmission, having achieved the desired attention and publicity for the newly launched project.
Media reports quoting sources said that the decision was taken in the face of a mounting public criticism and an online petition that had earned plenty of support which couldn’t be brushed off.
The channel reportedly stopped advertising Veena Malik through promos of the program of Astaghfar Show and news updates on the contentious events.
It isn’t the first victory of the social media, as Maya Khan, who anchored a show chasing dating couples in parks of Karachi, was fired by his organization over the pressure built by social networking websites and blogs.
The promos and trailers of the show, in which Veena was appeared with a teary face, sparked an outcry across the country. It was a show in which she was not in reality but in performance will repent from her sins whatever and wherever she committed in her previous life.
Veena, who was in the media for all the wrong reasons, has broken all records of vulgarity while performing nude photo shots for Indian men’s magazine. After performing many vulgar roles in Big Boss, the Pakistani missy also declared herself as successful actress for her shameful performances.
In order to achieve cheap popularity and grasp the viewership, Hero TV expressed a height of stupidity by hiring Veena Malik as host of religious program for Ramadan Transmission.
However, the masses expressed annoyances over the blogs, news reports, comments, and social networking websites. They were of the opinion that the controversial queen was completely misfit for such a religious program.
An online petition signed by thousands of people submitted to PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority) for stopping the channel to run a religious program with a vulgar actress.
The petition and public outcry on social media was the force that has caused removal of Veena from the religious program.
