The best study of history is always case and era wise. Also never ignore social accounts since they add to history.

The best book history and political science book (distinction being accounts vs creation of a historical framework) on any era is "The State of Martial Rule" by Ayesha Jalal. It is by far the only authoritative, definitive and eloquent account of any era so far. Social Sciences are very much lax area of development in our country. To read about anything post 62 basically, you'll need to cross study various books since no book alone can provide thee requisite story without any gaps or at least biases. Any issue wise list would be necessary to help you out with more recent stuff.

If I may, I could be of some help with respect to this. I have had some fascination with the histories of states within this region, the British empire in general and written on them. You would have to narrow it down to particular instances for me though. At the least perhaps I can offer you a more neutral/ balanced perspective.

I thought I might get links rather than members giving me answers, but please if you are to answer my questions, then give sources to back your claiming.

To be more specific, here are my questions:

When did the Idea of Pakistan come into existence?
Then from that point on, I want to know what happened from day 1 and on.

Also, I want to know who supported the formation of Pakistan,

Why/How Pakistan came to existence,

What were some problems Pakistan faced, before and after its formation,

Lastly, tell me about the Durand line.

I will ask more questions after the above are answered.
