Hello everyone, i am GreenGuy from Pakistan ;)
I have been lurking on these forums for around 6 years if i remember correctly.

Increased trolls on forums pushed me to make an account and i started posting relevant posts.
I do not post in defence related threads since i do not have knowledge about them.
So i prefer to keep my mouth shut and enlighten myself with information which is presented by some knowledgeable posters.

I am a Computer Science graduate with an interest in networking.

Thanks.

Welcome to PDF, do not loose your temper, or resort to profanities, try to convince people with your words, not foul language. From what I have seen so far, you have been sensible, lets hope you maintain this. Once again, welcome aboard and enjoy your stay.

Earthquake was the most horrific experience of my life
earthquake-was-the-most-horrific-experience-of-my-life

My name is Farman Haq I hail from the regional capital of Gilgit-Baltistan known as Gilgit. Monday’s earthquake was the most horrific experience of my life. I had just finished lunch and was looking forward to continuing with my work. It may come as a surprise, but I love to work at a local NGO that provides personal development opportunities for girls and young women in the region.

My role in the organisation is of a driver; it may seem insignificant, but it is because of me the girls get to their homes and places of education on time. I am a firm believer in empowering women as they are the ones who bring up our future generations.

When the earthquake struck, all I could think about was my family, home and the girls of the NGO. I was worried about my home that I built recently with my hands. Allah has been kind to me, my home did suffer some cracks, but it is standing, my family is safe and the students reached home safely. Although few of them have suffered greatly as their homes are destroyed.

It has been four days and the relief work is in full swing. We are happy to see that the government and are esteemed armed forces have extended all their support to the people of Gilgit.

However, we are still struggling because of dropping temperatures and lack of warm clothing. Electricity supply is disrupted and access to a lot of areas further than Gilgit is not possible due to landslides. The landslides have caused loss of precious lives and damaged to infrastructure.

I just hope we see better days soon and may Allah forgive our sins.

My Story shared by Farman Haq from Gilgit, Gilgit-Baltistan.
