. . .
it's 4.8% Now with Power Shortages. After we overcome it or even reduced it to quiet extent wouldn't it grows more? like 6% or 6.5% ???
it was over 7% in 2005
so its not about power shortages its about structure. yes power shortages takes a percent of the economy

No it is not, right now it is 3.1%; the lowest in many years and the usual culprit liar Ishaq Dark is cheating.

No need to take Harvard predictions seriously and these are just predictions based on current bad economic performance. As soon as an honest and competent leadership comes into power, everything will change. Pakistan's economy has the potential to grow above 8% on average per year for a decade.

Pakistan's GDP grew more than 10% in 1950s and grew 9% even under Musharraf. Every time Pakistan had democracy, the GDP tanked. Military rule is good for Pakistan's GDP.

Actually during Mushy's rule, there was more democracy like the local body elections, which the civilians have always tried to run away from.

The military rule itself is a direct consequence of the greed of the corrupt politicians. They are corrupt and stinkiest creatures on the planet Earth though they appear in human flesh. Military rule is not so much democratic but they are not corrupt like the politicians and the statistics speak for themselve. By and large common person does not even a bit if it is a military rule or dictatorship, all he wants is a good living for himself and his family. I'm anxiously waiting for the military to take over and end this masquerade of democracy of the shameless and panama leaky culprits.

True. People care about unemployment the most.

Not only did Pakistan had higher GDP but also the lowest unemployment rates under Zia-ul-Haq at around 3%.

That's the combo that people real care about.

I personally hate Zia-ul-Haq for many things he did to prolong his rule and effects of his policies are still felt to this day but there is not a single corruption case against him. He did not make big properties, offshore companies etc. Same you can say about Pervaiz Musharraf, Ayub Khan...no corruption case against them.
Kings of Saudia, UAE, Qatar are dictators but their people are happy with them because they have jobs and good economy, the majority of people don't give a damn if they can vote or not as long as they can live with reasonable lifestyle. I'm not saying dictatorship is good thing but relative to the "democracy" we have got in Pakistan, it has been better.

Who cares about choices when the options are the devil or the deep blue sea.

It is better to have the garden of eden with no choice.

Importantly, majority of the people do not know what they need and are better off not having a choice.

The Military doesn't have flexibility now, with the commitment and demand to put bullets into the heads of terrorists.

Military rule may have looked great, but it just weakened the military itself. Soldiers should be shooting, and officers wargaming not going door to door collecting money for electricity bills.

The military rule itself is a direct consequence of the greed of the corrupt politicians.

mportantly, majority of the people do not know what they need and are better off not having a choice.
That's so true sometimes, especially when I look at my life decisions...I was most confused when I had more than one choice, to select the school, career, job, even life partner(s) in future.
