I'm Sinhalese and we are celebrating Sinhala new year and I'm not celebrating Tamil new year.

Tamils have Tamil new year and they aren't celebrating Sinhala new year on this day. Both these festivals are in same day though it's two different festivals.

Once southern Indians change this festival day, that's why I have said may be southern Indians may also celebrating!
