Hamas head and Russian foreign minister talk 'common relations' | The Times of Israel

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Gaza’s Hamas government said its prime minister held a rare phone conversation with Russia’s foreign minister Wednesday.

Government spokesman Taher Nunu said Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh spoke with Sergey Lavrov for 35 minutes. He said the men discussed Israel’s peace talks with the rival Palestinian government in the West Bank, the Israeli-Egyptian blockade of Gaza and “common relations.”

Hamas, an Islamic militant group committed to Israel’s destruction, is largely shunned by the international community. Although Russia has in the past hosted Hamas officials, the phone call was the first high-level conversation in months.

In a statement issued by Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called for a “quick lifting” of the blockade on Gaza to “help relieve a difficult humanitarian situation of the Palestinian population.” He also voiced his support for an Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement.

According to the Russian statement, Haniyeh told Lavrov about the social and economic situation in Gaza and discussed overcoming differences between Hamas and its rival government in the West Bank.

Very good, JEW NATO again destabilize Russia in Ukrania
They want to die

Russia isn't trustworthy; it was secretly an Israel supporter during the Second Intifada. And the partnership is still alive:

The last 2 years show Hamas has most difficulty telling a friend from a foe.

I'm not sure what they want to explore though. Do you have any ideas? What these relations could be?

Well, according to what RT says -- it's the usual thing: weaponry. What else does Israel have to offer, after all? Probably Russia wants access to the same US weaponry that Israel has not-so-secretly been passing to China since the 90s.

Seriously? That's interesting if true. Not sure how that would work but why not get defensive weapons.

Could you post a link brother?

It's either that, or drone collaboration. I don't think Israel has anything else to offer to Russia.

Though the author is only speculating about a future Russian-Israeli partnership, the two of them are already quite chummy; this is especially the case in military affairs. The two of them are known to have collaborated during the Russian-Georgian war in 2008 (Israel sold Georgia some drones and then sabotaged them) and there is evidence that Russia is selling Israel information on Iran. It probably does so to Syria, too.
