"Marshal" Haftar accuses PNA of operating in Libya and threatens Algeria
SEPTEMBER 9, 2018 14816 VIEWS MESLOUB WALID
The self-proclaimed Libyan marshal has promised to wage war on Algeria, which he accuses "of exploiting the security situation in Libya to send troops to its territory"
In an address today to representatives of social affairs coordination, the strong man of eastern Libya said that Algerian troops had entered Libyan territory. "Algerians have found an opportunity to enter Libya, when we discovered that, I sent General Abdelkrim to Algeria to explain that what was done by Algeria was far from fraternal. We can transfer the war from our side to another in a few moments, "said Haftar. According to him, the Libyan special envoy was warned by the Algerian authorities that this was an "individual initiative, which would be corrected during the week," adding that the Algerian authorities apologized.
For its part, no information or release did not mention this "incident" on the Algerian side, whether diplomatic or military. The most surprising thing is that Hatar's militias only operate in eastern Libya, far from Algerian borders.
The situation has deteriorated for a week in Tripoli stormed by a coalition of militias, including former Kadhafists, wanting to take over the capital.
"Marshal" Haftar was appointed by the parliament of Tobruk (not recognized by the UN) in 2015 commander of the Libyan National Army, which is far from being an official army nor a whole army. Benefiting from the support of the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, he went to the conquest of the East of the country and managed in 2017 to drive the jihadists of the Islamic State of Sirte where they had established an embryo Khalifat.
Spoiled by France and sidelined by Italy, his positions and his lack of efficiency in the long run bored his American allies (he himself holds a passport from the United States) and Russian, who had seen in him a potential friend.
It has never been in the Algiers tablets whose diplomacy in Libya advocates inclusive dialogue between all the tribal and political actors.
