Gwadar: An unfulfilled dream

Gwadar's development has slowed down but it's still very much happening. I was pleasantly surprised by the new stadium, schools, hospitals, apartments and houses being built in Gwadar. The deep sea port is fully operational. The housing schemes are being developed. The airport has gotten funds. Rome wasn't built in a day. Gwadar is important for a lot of countries and obviously some will try to create hurdles.

Yaar you damn trolls & haters are a real pain in the a$$ stop this bs in every damn thread & post let us read & put in our two cents & also maybe gain knowledge about different topics. Mods plzz help put a stop to this madness lets talk about topic in peace .

You pull out of Kashmir, we put of Balochistan.

Again why you indian trolls constantly compare an international disputed territory (Kashmir) between two sovereign nations (Pakistan and India) to an internationally recognized province of Pakistan (Balochistan). Do you indians claim Balochistan to be yours too now?

Your days in Afghanistan are numbered, even your government knows this. Without Pakistan, there is no solution to Afghanistan. U.S., NATO, and even your government knows this. Afghan Taliban arent going anywhere and when they come back to power in Afghanistan, they will kick out you hindu kuffar along with crusaders and zionists from Afghanistan forever.

Strategic or not, but it hasn't seen glory as claimed.

2010: White Elephant:

The self-complacency of PSAI can be noticed that it has not invited shipping lines even after passing of 31 months. The PSAI has not heeded to much-required pilot boat with 16-knot speed and tugboat with Bollard pull 60 ton to handle large vessels at the deep sea port.

The GPA was to receive revenue from PSAI over these 40 years of concession, but Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) had just paid Rs32.899 million to Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) as its share of revenue from port operations since March 2008.

The investment of $3 billion in the Gwadar project, of which $550 million would be invested in the first five years, is yet to be achieved. The PSAI has so far not unfolded its business plan or set its port operational targets. It is concerted opinion of the port experts that major flaw in the signing of this over-ambitious “concession” has caused main hurdle in smooth functioning of the port.

China financed 80% of the Gwadar project’s $248 million initial development costs. Chinese money and Chinese engineers built much of it, and it was expected that the contract for operating the new port would also go in the Chinese way, but it went to the Port of Singapore Authority instead.t was expected that PSAI would bring in trade, but it has not done so and turned the whole port into a white elephant. The maritime experts have called for a review of the contract to run Gwadar with PSAI because the port was not operating to the desired expectations.

2011: Gwadar in Supreme Court

http://www.dawn.com/2011/01/05/gwadar-port-deal-was-challenged-to-protect-cartel-s-interest-psa.html
The Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) informed the Supreme Court on Tuesday that its contract to run the Gwadar Port has been challenged in the court not in the public interest but to protect the interests of a Karachi-based cartel.

2011 Limited Imports only
Pakistan. 0.1 million tons of fertiliser to be imported via Gwadar Port — BlackSeaGrain - All information on agriculture and food industry
He admitted that Gwadar Port is not properly functioning due to lack of facilities of roads, transportation and infrastructure. He said that only urea and wheat could be imported through this port. He said nowadays only fertiliser is being imported while Pakistan is in a position to export wheat. Dr Abdul Malik said that the government has acquired 2281 acres land on release for Singapore Company while 584 acres land would be more acquired.

So yeah the article is correct when calling Gwadar "an unfulfilled dream"

Ignore the loser trolls. Rome was not built in a day. What was a pure barren piece of land 20 years ago, is a city built for the 21st century.

Zaver Pearl Continental Hotel Gwadar

Nice the hotel does look classy, is it making any profit though with a deteriorating security situation?
QUETTA: Five security personnel were injured in a remote-controlled blast in the port city of Gwadar on Tuesday.

According to police, unidentified people attached an explosive device with a motorbike and parked it on the Fish Harbour Road. They detonated it by a remote control when an official vehicle of the Frontier Corps was passing by it. As a result of the explosion, five security personnel received splinter wounds.

Heavy contingents of police and security forces personnel rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area.

The injured were shifted to the navy hospital for treatment. “Two personnel are in critical condition,” hospital sources said.

“2 kilogrammes of explosive materials were used in the blast,” a senior police official told Daily Times.

Why you need to do audit on their P&L Statement. Contribute something positive to the forum and try to hide you prejudice against the successes of Pakistan. Gwadar is not the Tejas project that started in 1978 and still not fully operational yet even with foreign parts and engine and neither it is the failed Tirshul Project.

Gwadar will be the another port city that will benefit the country, though I know that it pisses the Indians off big time, but tough luck. It is the PDF way or the highway..
