Growing intolerance? What a bunch of old frauds these ‘intellectuals’ have proved to be

sorry, too late mate. I have already put her inside a saffron box. :)
I have nothing to say about her personal life, I solely rely on her on her performance in tv debates, where she comes off as a rich-socialite-with-lots-of-opinion-on-stuffs ... I wil choose to save my time. Thank you.

So that makes you a lazy thinker, it's easy to stereotype a person than evaluate ideas. You are no different to those who say that all black people are good at basketball or all Asians are bad drivers...and in fact much worse than those you look down your nose at. Too da loo.

hmm.. judging same person by few of her/his past actions... not same as judging a group of person by action of a few... . :)
ok, I agree am lazy.

a post i made yesterday will i think suit your points ( Raghuram Rajan, Narayan Murthy Add Voice Against Rising Intolerance | Page 12 ).

you should, because the justice for the wife that western/modern-socialist systems brought in recent history ( and contributed to indian civil law thus ) comprised the real part of islam fourteen centuries ago... so indian muslims taking up ucc will really be them going back to true islam, rather than the south asian corrupted version they follow now.

read about "mahr" and divorce in islam.

as i said, the sanghis will be jumping soon once a real and progressive ucc is established. :)

pointless.

preparing to dig canals by hand.

and why not??

all that modi government has done since inauguration last year is becoming a tout for western weapons manufacturers and useless capitalist companies.

1. the article doesn't mention irrigation.

2. like many programs and government structures, this one was a congress-time program which bjp would have renamed to some sanskrit phrase suggested by rss... example, "planning commission" to "niti aayog".

besides, how about places like rajasthan ( state of late farmer gajendra singh )??

the solution is partly technological ( building a scientific irrigation system ), partly economic, partly social... and that can only be ensured through progressive/socialist means... no other choice.

1. read up on the libyan "great man made river" project ( the biggest water transport system in history ).

2. my post on this topic from yesterday ( India becomes world's 7th MOST VALUED 'Nation Brand' | Page 5 )... it's a long post but will answer your post.

how so??
Yeah yeah dear socialist. We got your point. East or West, North or South - real/true Islam is the best.

So the people voted for other parties too and they have their representatives in the lower house and those who doesn't well their choices have been overlooked by the majority of votes

right, so modi government exists without the consent of those who didn't vote for bjp... this, as the "green book" says, is against real democracy... and this state exists because of the confused nature of the western-style "votes and elections" ridden multi-party "representative democracy" system... it is fake-democracy really.

so what do you suggest is one to do??

but comparing Modi who faces a healthy opposition and a tons of intellectuals who are criticizing him on a daily basis now to a military dictator who had no opposition at all isn't quite fair.

there was fierce opposition to zia ul haq from pakistani progressives and socialists, including via armed means and student protests/street-fights... something like the naxal movement of the early years.

there were for example the two sons of zulfiqar ali bhutto, using socialist afghanistan, libya and syria as base of operations against zia and refuge... you can read about this side in fatima bhutto's book "songs of blood and sword" from a more personal angle.

also, read this recent thread of mine ( rajiv gandhi saw pakistan as buffer against ussr ).

She gives the right wing some la di da Joe style class.
What happened to your old signature about the spinning class? I thought it had personality.:-)

Are you serious?? You are comparing General Zia a military dictator's legacy to a Prime Minister who has been elected in an general election where more than 540 million people voted.
all the common factors match up, so yeah, but im not comparing them, just pointing out the similarities of their rule.

It is still better then the dictatorship or no democracy at all. Democracy is really all about those 'who is popular among the masses gets elected to represent them'. Their can be multiple candidates in representative democracy but only one gets elected you cannot have everybody winning because then it will be flawed, Plus you are not elected forever.
Democracy may has its own cons you can have additional additional improvements like NOTA and Right To Recall but those also wouldn't be the prime solution. it's all about evolving and improving but you got to have something to evolve from.
