Joint exercise of Greece-Egypt with the participation of Cyprus

The joint exercise of Greece-Egypt, under the name “Medusa 7-Alexandroupoli 18”, will start on Friday.
Cyprus will also participate in the exercise.
The activities will take place in the navy yard of Crete and at the Cretan Sea. Observers from the United Arab Emirates, USA, Italy, Morocco and Portugal will also participate in the exercise.
In particular, the Greek Armed Forces will take part with 3 frigates with navy helicopters, 1 submarine, 2 missiles, 1 ship, 8 F-16 aircraft, 1 aircraft of the 380 Airborne Early Warning & Control System Squadron, 1 Super Puma helicopter, 3 Chinook helicopters, 4 attack helicopters AH-64, and 2 Marine and Personnel Special Forces units.
The Cypriot Armed Forces will participate with: 1 offshore vessel and personnel of special forces units.
The Egyptian Armed Forces will participate with: 1 Mistral Class, 1 frigate, 1 submarine, 2 missiles, 6 F-16s, 1 E2-C aircraft, as well as personnel troops special forces.
The purpose of the exercise, to be completed on November 30, is to further promote the cooperation of the Armed Forces of the participating countries by improving the level of operational training in a multi-threat environment, according to an announcement by the General Secretariat for Defense.
