Hindustan Times has reported that the Indian soldier, who "strayed" across the LoC after the alleged surgical strikes conducted by the Indian army on Wednesday, was identified as 22-year-old Chandu Chavan and who hails from Borvihir village in Dhule district of Maharashtra.

The report claimed that according to a Local Marathi television channel IBN Lokmat the soldier's grandmother, Lilabai Patil, died of shock after she heard of his capture by the Pakistan army and that the maternal grandmother had brought up Chavan since he was a child after his parents were killed.

The report further stated that TV channels reported Indian Home minister Rajnath Singh saying, “The government has taken note of media reports that say our soldier is in Pakistan’s captivity… India will take up the matter with Pakistan,” and that Singh also spoke to the Chavan’s family and assured them of all support.

Pakistani media and newspapers have not verified this report as of yet and apart from the Local Marathi channel, no other independent news outlet has covered this story.

Modi is responsible for fanning Hindutava and war hysteria and ultimately such poor soldiers and their families are paying the price...

If true, this is sad. Pakistan should hand over the guy unconditionally.

Jingoism of indian media and modi are responsible for her death. If they had not created these circumstances, she would have been alive. But I know, death of few ordinary indians is not a big price to satisfy few brahmin's false ego.

.
Unfortunate but no one lives for ever. I hope she rests in peace.

Unfortunate, but it doesn't change a thing. Every soldier has their friends and family weeping for them, it's not like this guy is an exception.
