DHAKA : The present government is set to build two cultural centers in Kolkata and in New York by 2013 in a bid to promote our cultural heritage to people of those countries.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith came up with the disclosure while delivering his budget speech for the fiscal 2012-13 in the Jatiya Sangsad Thursday.

Mentioning that the government has proposed an allocation of Taka 195.57 crore for the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Muhith said, “I believe we can uphold the positive image of our country before the outside world through extensive promotion and publicity of our cultural heritage.steps have been taken to establish cultural centres in different countries to this end.”

Besides, the government has taken steps to explore and preserve the archaeological sites across the country to uphold cultural heritage of the country, he informed.

“Preservation and development programme of archaeological sites is going on throughout the country including Mahasthangarh, Paharpur, Kantajeu, ahabaleshwar and Bagerhat,” he added.

He informed that the excavations and exploration work in Wari-Bateshwar and Bikrampur are also on progress.

They, however, must be respectfully & humbly be asked to cease operation for the duration if/when BNP & Jamaatis come to power in Bangladesh. For that duration of time, they could better expend their energy spreading their "culture" in pakistan

West Bengal has no substance left of Bengali culture as it is now under subjugation of the Hindi culture of western India.

If you in any place of the world talk about Bengali culture Bangladesh will come to their mind not west Bengal as it is Bangladesh which has brought Bengali to the world arena not west Bengal ....

Well trolling aside, but thats not true.

Bengali Literature, music and art is still thriving in West Bengal. Vishwa Bharati University is where everyone from around the world goes to study Bengali literature and art.

Same can't be said about Bangladesh where anything remotely Bengali is termed Malaunic straight away. Bangladesh is more an arab wannabe country than Bengali. At least thats what it seems like by reading the shyte majority of the bangladeshis say here.
