Prime Minister Imran Khan, via Twitter on Friday, announced that the government will announce a "special package of incentives" for overseas Pakistanis to encourage them to send remittances through banking channels.

PM Khan said that by "removing hindrances and procedural issues", the government will be able to increase the inflow of remittances from $20bn to "at least $30bn and perhaps even $40bn".

"The Philippines did this successfully," he added.

PM Khan also vowed to remove problems faced by overseas Pakistanis during the immigration process when they come to Pakistan. He added that Pakistani missions abroad had also been ordered by the government to "look after and deal effectively with the concerns" of overseas Pakistanis.

He assured that his administration will take steps to protect overseas Pakistanis' property and assets in the country, "especially from land mafias".

Overseas Pakistanis form a significant part of PM Khan's administration. Weeks after his party won the July 25 election, Finance Minister Asad Umar declared that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government will focus on growing home remittances to supplement foreign exchange inflows.

Great step...

. . . .
first thing he need is to ease visa options and talk with Kuwait Bahrain on visa ban . bring back passport respect allow 100 countries citizens to visit visa free Pakistan so world open doors for us too .
If they provide low commission remittance transfer that would be great. Because , we usually send Eidi , Bday cash, in case of emergency if any family need money. In case of local or national disaster. They should simplify and secure the system and provide security to our property . Then they see the magic, how much investment comes.

Also would be good if this was online, that way people could send the money themselves via this system.

Banks commission is very high. If they lower the commission , imagine some time people send 30 or 40 dollar or pound from phone app in seconds without even looking into account. These drops of cash turn into huge foreign exchange for nation.

it is fact , we have huge power line losses due to heavy theft and old transmission lines . Also gas loss due to stealing or old lines. Plus, no tax payer since last 30 years.
But , bhai we don't feed just our family. We have people work at our homes. We feed those families too. Also , give money to those poor servants in the time of need. Each family which live foreign land feed many families in Pakistan.

If he wants to help overseas Pakistani's, fire all the staff in the overseas consulates, especially the UK ones.
Could not agree more with you. They are biggest bas*tards you can find anywhere. I have seen fights break out because applicants got tired of being pushed around. In fact the moment you step in your treated to Third World behaviour/service ...

So True! And the Pakistani embassy here in London is extremely filthy, 3rd world part of London. The state of it is just horrendous and the work they do is crap as well.

I had to renew my Pakistani passport, and trust me the service I got here in Toronto consulate was worse than what I would get at a NADRA or passport office in Pakistan. Absolute paindus hired on some political quota work in these embassies and they take Canadian (or where ever the embassy is), Pakistani and Islamic holidays. All of them! Not to mention the 1.5 hour breaks for prayers during Zuhr.

It's entirely the fault of the staff.

I can get a visa so much easier at the Gerrys office in Birmingham than at the consulate.

I can get ID cards made so much easier using those local guys who charge you a fiver to fill out the online forms, than I ever could at the consulate.
