Govt to announce decision on hanging Afzal Guru shortly, say sources - India - IBNLive

New Delhi: The government is expected to make a major announcement on Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru soon, sources said on Saturday. According to sources, the terrorist may have been hanged or due to be hanged soon.

The government is likely to make an announcement around 8.30 am, sources said.

The sources said this could be the government's effort to counter the BJP's accusations of double-standards on part of the government especially after Ajmal Kasab's hanging. This could also be an attempt to counter the BJP's return to Hindutva politics.

The politics of the matter aside, if the news is true..then good step.

Curfew has been declared in Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Sopore and other sensitive areas.
