Govt making efforts to develop Gilgit-Baltistan: CM

ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister of Gigit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah said that his government was taking several measures to develop Gilgit-Baltistan.

Talking to Pakistan Television, he said that tenders for new development projects would be announced next winter while the work on these projects will begin in April. He said that the government of Gilgit-Baltistan has done a lot of work to develop and promote tourism in the region adding law and order situation is now under completely control, he added.

Shah said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) provided all basic rights to people of the area. He said that GB Legislative Assembly had reposed full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

They already enjoy province like status since 2009... only difference is they are constituently not the fifth province of Pakistan due to Kashmir factor.

GB rich in tourism potential: Sadia

Astore—Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has rich tourism potential and the government is utilizing all available resources for its promotion. This was stated by Advisor to Tourism Gilgit-Baltistan Miss Sadia Danish in a telephonic conversation with meida on Wednesday.

She said negotiations had been held with various renowned companies of the country to develop the region on modern lines. She added due to the efforts of Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah the tourism department was developing at a rapid pace.
