Is the one running the PIA had any experience in civilan aircraft---or the one Gen Musharraf appointed to run the steel mill did he have any experience running such mega projects---???
So if it happen then (in near past) , it should happen now too? When are we planning to change this? Btw your example of Musharaf appointing an army officer to lead Steel mill is absurd, i wasn't expexting this. Appointment of Musharaf in itself was illegal.
PMI certification is a walk in the park! Any Tom Dick and Harry can be a PMP ... EASILY! 5 days study and 2 exams and one walks away with a PMI certification!
How many PMI certified professionals in Pakistan? Can you give me a figure? Btw the way you said it i am thinking a number close to 100 k professionals.
Job of the CEO is not be a certified project manager, qualified accountant, accredited engineer blah blah blah. His/her job is to manage the team of specialists to achieve the goals and targets. Hopefully this will make it easir for your understanding.
You will find almost all CEOs of fortune 500 to be specialists in ONLY one field but it's their ability/strength to manage and direct other specialists from other fields that counts and gets them to the CEO post.
Also I have yet to come across a CEO from the PMO
We live in a couuntry where we are asked to show certifucates as many as possible. And even then we dont get the job and some nephew of a major or general or brigadear get the job. So me asking about PMI certificate atleast is justified. I agree its not must to have PMI certufucation for a CEO but still that CEO have some background and specialised in a particular field related to his business case. What particular plus can this gentleman bring to CPEC projects through his administrative skills?
PMI certifcate mean you are internationally authorized to head a project as a Project manager. If a person is not even to head a single project (i mean no certification), then how is he going to manage hundreds of projects simultaneously??.. And btw before you start bashing me for my views, let me tell you i am graduate of nust in Construction engineering and management with civil engineering background. Hope that will help you taking my words more seriously.
